Sugar Plum Bakery Inc
Wow, what a wonderful bakery. On the advice of a friend we tried out this store and have been going back ever since. The baked goods are absolutely delicious, and they ahve everything you could possibly imagine. They will make different items for parties, or special cakes for all occassions. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they always try to get involved in different community events. Definitely a positive business from every aspect!
Jared Galleria Of Jewelry
Sorry, that is part of the jingle that they always use on tv. I think after all of the commercials and radio ads, I was expecting more from this store. It was a fine jewelry store, but I did not think it was really anything special. They had the normal jewelry, but nothing that "wowed" me and made me want to come back again. The customer service was fine also, but again nothing extremely special. Prices seemed slightly higher than other stores in the area.
Baylakes Pines Private School
We sent the kids to Baylake for preschool and kindergarten and had two very different experiences. Our older girl loved every minute of it - made great friends that she is still in touch with today, loved her teachers, and really came away with some great childhood years. The younger one had some problem children in the class that the teacher did not handle well, and we ended up having to pull her after we found out that kids were climbing out of windows without teachers knowing. Overall though we thought it was a good school (they did get rid of that teacher) and would recommend it in the future (as long as they have upgraded and remodeled since).
Inlet Fitness Inc
While skeptical of this gym at first, we've really grown to love it! The gym is actually located right on the water and most of the rooms allow you to look outside while you work out. There are windows and televisions everywhere, so it really gives you distractions while you're there. The facility is very nice with good locker rooms, and they offer different classes that are a lot of fun if you have time to attend. They even have kayaks and other things of the sort to take advantage of the water. Parking for members only. Staff is great too!
David Nygaard Fine Jewelers
We have had a few mixed reviews with this store. I really think it all depends on your appearance when you walk in - if you look nice, as if you can afford to buy good jewelry, they are more than willing to come over and see if and how they can help. However, if you go in after a day of errands they are not quite as nice as they could be and often go to other customers first. Overall though they have been helpful and would work with us on prices. I'd go back to shop there again.
Taylors Do It Centers
Taylor's has been around for quite some time in the area and we go there when we have home improvement needs. The stores are obviously smaller than some of the big chains (Home Depot, etc.) but we are usually able to find what we need at good prices. Most of the time they are good about loading the car for you, although recently we have had times where we had to do everything ourselves. Overall though a good place to stop if you have any needs. They also offer a senior discount once a week if you can take advantage of that!
The Virginian Pilot
I have been a subscriber to the Virginian Pilot for many years now and am still very pelased with my service. The paper is wonderful and has evolved with new changes numerous different times. Their customer service is great too. If for some reason your paper does not get delivered, you can call in and they will bring you another within 45 minutes - but it only took them about 30 when this happened to me. This paper is wonderful!
Bayville Golf Club
Built just a few years ago, Bayville Golf Club is in a convenient location in the Shore Drive area (near Bayside) of Virginia Beach. I have only been a few times, but they seem to do a very good job with upkeep. The course is very nice and green, and the facilities have been kept nice and new. There is a waiting list to become a member (or so I am told) so you might want to think ahead on this one. A nice course for all to enjoy.
Bubba's Marina & Shellfish Co
Bubba's marina has been one of our favorites for a long time. When the kids were little they got a bit disgusted by the fish being cleaned, but it's still a fun experience to get to see it. Bubba's also has a nice little restuarant that is usually very full come the summer months because of it's location right on the water. The menu isn't huge, but has some great seafood on it. Parking is tight, but they have added more lots just a short walk down the street. You can also bring a boat up and dock if there is space.
Bon Secours Depaul Medical Center
We have had some good experiences with Depaul's rehabilitation center. My mother stayed for about a week for physical therapy and we couldn't have asked for anything better. The drive was long, but worth it, as they made sure that she did everything she needed to do while she stayed. They are kind about not taking no for an answer, but also make sure to allow the residents time to adapt and enjoy the setting. The problem for her was that she had knee surgery and was often around people with much more sever problems and who were staying for extended periods of times. This comes with the territory though. Would definitely recommend it for rehab!
