We purchased a puppy one afternoon and wanted to have her seen right away and get checked out. When we called this office they said they could get us right in. Everyone there was really nice and caring. The location was great for us, hours and prices are very good compared to some other offices. They've always been able to help us even if we've had a last minute need with our pup. The waiting room is very clean and big enough to accomodate many people and animals. They do not, however, have separate waiting areas for cats and dogs.
PROS: location, prices, really nice people
CONS: cats and dogs have to tolerate each other in the waiting room
I always love going to the zoo, but I'm not terribly impressed by the Phoenix zoo. I guess nothing compares to the Columbus Zoo (in Ohio) but it seems like this zoo just doesn't have nearly the number of animals that I'd expect. I should start by warning about the parking, you may have to take quite a long walk just to get to the gates, especially if it's spring break! I've taken my kids' bikes when we've gone and that helps with the amount of walking, where you see mostly greenery instead of animals. The new monkey exhibit was a big disappointment. I do like the Arizona desert section, but it's easy to get lost. I would probably go more often if it was closer or cost a bit less. Oh there is a very cool playground area for the kids.
PROS: some creative settings, fun animals to see in pretty natural surroundings
CONS: do a lot of walking to see not as many animals as you'd expect
My husband and I each set up IRAs with Gordie a few years ago. He really took his time to explain things to us and help each of us invest in a way that was comfortable and would reach each of our needs. I'm a little more conservative so he set me up with two types of accounts, both took a hit post 9/11 (as did everyone's investments) but they have bounced back and are doing well from my standpoint. Gordie is easy to talk to and will put you at ease. He even sends out a birthday card each year, which is a nice touch.
PROS: Very easy to talk to, even if you don't know much about investing
This building is part of a beautiful new Arizona Humane Society adoption center. The clinic is at the far west end of the building. They have vaccination clinics on specific days or you can schedule an appointment. I've only gone once, it was quite a drive. The waiting room was full of barking dogs and petrified cats (I had a little kitten). The wait wasn't too long, but I was surprised that an assistant comes out to take your pet back and you stay in the waiting room. They bring your pet back after seeing a vet and getting the shots/checkup. I'm not sure how thorough it is, but if you have a tight budget or a lot of animals, it's better than nothing. I think overall I still prefer visiting a local veterinarian.
PROS: low cost vaccinations for your pet
CONS: far away location, noisy waiting room, owners won't see the vet
We have had two of our animals spayed using this mobile clinic and really liked it. You have to check their website or call to find out when they'll be in your area. They travel to area Petco stores. You have to arrive early as they have a limited number or animals they can take each day. Your pet gets an exam, any needed shots, and spayed or neutered at a very low cost. The vets there were so nice and caring, they take the time to talk to you about your pet needs and after surgery care. It felt very safe taking my animals there and they did just fine. You have to drop them off and then come back later in the day to pick up. Pain meds are available for you to purchase for your little animal too. It's a great service that I highly recommend.
PROS: spay and neuter surgery for your pet and low costs
CONS: you have to take the time to get there and pick up your animal
I've been going to this ob/gyn office for several years now. I was drawn here because they have a female ob/gyn on staff but getting in to see her takes a lot of planning ahead. Since my first visit I have been quite content to schedule my yearly appointments with their nurse practitioner. She is very nice and easy to talk to, caring and professional. I feel that I am in good hands. I rarely have to wait very long in the waiting room (which we women know can be very long sometimes in those ob/gyn offices). I don't know much about the other doctors there, but I'm sure they're good, the waiting room is always full. The location is fairly easy to find, just watch you don't miss the driveway (which I've done several times) and wind up parking in the back of Albertsons.
PROS: Several doctors on staff, great RNP
CONS: Call ahead to schedule your yearly exam
My son had his first real birthday party here and it was a great experience. PPP has several party packages and they are very affordable. The kids get their great pizza, drinks, some tokens (you can buy more if you need to), a party table or two, decorations, and you just bring your own cake and birthday kid. They take care of the setup and cleanup and offer a very reasonable price per child. There's plenty to do and it's not so large that you have to worry about losing kids. Everyone will have a fun time! Parking is adequate and staff is friendly.
PROS: good pizza, great prices, lots of fun
CONS: the kids will want endless amounts of tokens, kind of noisy
This was probably my son's favorite place for a birthday party, he went there for a friend's birthday. He had such an amazing time he only wanted to go back there for his own birthday. The problem was the cost, a bit high for us. Evidently this place has all kinds of activities for the kids including some sort of inflatable wrestling or boxing (the kids wear helmets), slides, playground climbers. They have an "open bounce" time but that seems a little high priced if you ask me. Kids love it though. The kids watch a safety video before playing and parents must sign a waiver. If you can afford it, it's a great place for a birthday party!
PROS: Great fun for the kids
My son went thru a season of their karate program and enjoyed it. We found a location not too far from home and he had a weekly Saturday class. A few years ago it only cost $5 a lesson and now I believe it's gone up a dollar, still a great deal. It's not high pressure, you don't have to buy the uniform. The lessons were very professionally done, I just wish parents could sit in the back and watch more than once. After a season of classes the kids are tested to see if they're ready to move up to the next belt. You do have to make up any classes you miss. I believe they have other types of classes like soccer, pom pom, and cheer.
PROS: good prices and various locations
CONS: you have to make up classes to move on in rank
Craftmart is a fun place to shop, I'm always getting different project ideas when I visit here. Also almost every week in the mail they send out a sale flyer and a 40% off coupon. They carry floral, wedding, cake decorating, scrapbooking, pictures and frames, fabric, model making, painting, sewing, kids crafts, baskets, and numerous other items. My husband even enjoys going here. The salespeople are friendly and helpful. The prices are about average, but the sales are great and usually cover a lot of items.
PROS: Huge selection of arts and crafts
CONS: I wish they carried even more Wilton cake pans
