I love stopping in here at the last minute for a $5 large pepperoni pizza. It's a fast supper idea and can be made extra special with an order of crazy bread and sauce. Take it home and pour on the parmesan cheese! Yum! The location can be a little tricky to access especially during busy traffic times in downtown Chandler. They have hot pepperoni pizzas ready or you can order another type of topping and get it in about 15 min. They have other menu items as well. The waiting area is nothing fancy, so just grab your food and take it home to enjoy!
PROS: good food and great prices
CONS: location, tricky corner lot with little parking
I've found much better deals at Once Upon A Child stores in other states. It's hard to find really good bargains here. The clothes in my opinion are a bit overpriced considering they're used. You can usually find prices that low at Target or Walmart. If you bring your stuff in to sell, they are VERY particular and will give you very little money or store credit. You'd be better off doing a yard sale or selling them on Ebay if you have nice stuff. The store has gotten bigger over the years, so it must be a fairly successful location, but I have definitely found better finds elsewhere.
PROS: Wide selection of used clothing, toys, baby items
CONS: Too expensive for resale, they won't give you much for your stuff
This is a fairly small store with a wide selection of various video games and equipment. They have a fair return policy and they'll buy your old games if you're interested in doing that. We have been able to find a good selection of older game systems like Playstation and Gameboy Color. They may have some items listed instead of on display and they're kept behind the counter. You'll also find new games here. The salespeople are helpful and nice. They also carry movies. Gift cards from this store would make a great gift, items are available online as well.
PROS: good prices and wide video game selection
CONS: location is a little out of the way for us
My husband and I had a very beautiful wedding ceremony at the GCGR a few years ago. It was exactly what we were looking for, the people there are so helpful. The cost was very reasonable and afterward we had a reception at the Kokopelli restaurant right there, in a private room surrounded by windows so we could enjoy the magnificent Arizona sunset. The people there were so accomodating and we can't imagine having found a better place for our small ceremony. They have 3 different locations for wedding ceremonies to suite different needs and party sizes. The food was excellent. They also helped us find a local minister to perform the ceremony. I highly recommend this location!
PROS: Beautiful location for a wedding, great price, helpful staff.
CONS: They didn't have a dance floor
The Mesa Southwest museum is very much a natural history museum with a variety of attractions that range from dinosaur skeletons and displays, an Arizona art gallery, prehistoric history area with adobe huts, old prison cells, an area to pan for (fools) gold, rocks and minerals and meteroites, a children's activity room, and various other attractions. Of course the coolest thing is the three story high dinosaur structure, with almost life size dinosaur animated figures with a waterfall backdrop. On a schedule a thunderstorm begins and causes the water to flow loudly and you see "lightning" and hear "thunder". It's a fun place to visit and my kids never seem to get tired of going. I do wish it was a little bigger, you can easily get thru the entire thing in less than 2 hours. Parking is pretty easy, there is a free lot to the south and a covered lot to the east, free on the weekends. Check out their website for more info, including the Free admission for every 2nd Sunday of the month! Great deal! Don't forget to stop in the gift shop!
PROS: A fun place to see dinosaur bones and replicas.
CONS: I wish they had even more dinosaur fossils
We enjoy occassionally visiting the Landmark restaurant. It's a fairly unique dining experience. The meals come with a rather extensive salad/soup/etc bar. It adds up to a very filling meal. The food is very good. It has a fine dining atmosphere. I believe they also have weddings and receptions at this location, a former church. It's a lovely old building, with a huge flight of stairs as you enter. I believe there's a lift or elevator for wheelchair access. Check out the website for more info. They frequently run specials especially if you sign up for their mailing list, they'll give you discounts for your birthday and anniversary.
PROS: great quality food at a reasonable price, unique atmostphere
CONS: location, a bit of a drive for us
Wow...this is a very unique restaurant. There's a huge organ where an organist plays various familiar themes and musical scores for the entertainment of the diners. The music can be a little loud but the kids should really enjoy it. The seating was basically a bunch of huge benches. You have to pick up your food, drinks, salads, everything and take it with you into the dark dining room. THis can take some coordination if you have little ones with you. It was really fun for a special occassion. I don't remember the pizza being particularly good, but you're really there for the experience. Very cool.
PROS: listen to really fun organ music while eating pizza.
CONS: seating and getting everything to your table can be awkward
We've gone to this location several times and had good experiences. The food servings are very big, you'll get filled up and it won't break the bank. They have a variety of foods on the children's menu as well. At this location they have had Monday nite specials where you get a free kids' meal for each adult entree you purchase, which is a great deal! I can't say for sure if they're still doing that though. The food is great, I love the burgers and their other sandwiches. The only problem we've had was with service, sometimes they've been a bit understaffed. Monday nights are busy too. They do have a sports bar on the other side of the restaurant, separated completely by a wall and a door so it won't effect your dining experience. Also they do have several tvs mounted up high with various sports broadcasted. It's atmosphere is a little dark. It is located at the end of a Safeway shopping center and there is ample parking.
PROS: good food, good value, wide variety of menu items
CONS: sometimes they're understaffed and service can be slow
I just love going to Texas Roadhouse, feels like you're visiting Texas. It has a real fun atmosphere, somewhat casual, but the food is first rate! The booths are nice and big (like Texas) and they start you out with a bucket of peanuts and the most delicious sweet yeast rolls (which they will refill throughout your meal). The steak is wonderful and the kids will enjoy their filling meals too, they're very reasonably priced and they get a lot of food! I recommend you call ahead and get your name on the waiting list. They do have a pretty big waiting area, but not big enough. It can be fairly loud, which is fine, and if you have small children you don't have to worry about them being too loud and bothering anyone.
PROS: wonderful food at reasonable prices, good place to take kids
CONS: busy, you may have a long wait depending on when you go
I just returned to this restaurant after not going for quite a long time and was really surprised at the change in quality of the food. Maybe I just was unlucky this time, as it used to be dependably delicious. This time my fettucini noodles looked more like broken lasagna noodles. Strange.
This restaurant has a very casual style. It's almost like fast food style, but you're served with nice dishes. You order and seat yourself and help yourself to the fountain drinks. There is no server for your table, but your food will be brought out to you. So you save yourself the tip, treat yourself to dessert if you have room! They have a variety of pastas, not just traditional Italian dishes. There are Asian and Southwestern pasta creations just to name a few. There's a kids' menu as well. It's defnitely better than fast food, but won't put a dent in your budget. The location is at the end of a shopping center, with Fry's at the other end. The parking is fine and location is easy to get to.
PROS: nice change of pace from fast food
CONS: the quality of food used to be outstanding, now it's a little disappointing
