Cahokia Mounds has been designated a World Heritage Historic Site by UNESCO. The mounds were created by Native American residents of the region near St. Louis. Many of the mounds near St. Louis were destroyed during development of the city. However, these mounds still stand. They are pretty impressive. One mound is particularly large. You can climb to the top of the mound for a good view of St. Louis' Gateway Arch. The visitor center is very informative. Inside the visitor center is a recreation of a Cahokian village. Cahokia Mounds is an interesting place and is worth a visit.
Grant's Farm is a wonderful place to bring your family on a beautiful day. It is a preserve ran by Anheuser Busch. It consists of land formerly owned by Ulysses Grant. It is a nature preserve with a diverse animal population. Admission is free. You take a tram ride through the park and observe the animals. Since the animal population is so diverse, it is not strange to see bison next to zebras. The tram takes you through the preserve and drops you off in a hospitality area. Here you are able to sample some Anheuser Busch products for free. You can also see different types of animal shows. The park is definitely a fun family experience.
The St. Louis Zoo is hands down one of the best parts of the city. The Zoo is located in beautiful Forest Park. Admission is free to the public. The Zoo has a wide range of animal inhabitants from okapi to gorillas to sea lions. The Zoo is kept up very well and is a beautiful place to visit. It has a special section dedicated to local animals and a section dedicated to the animals of the savannah. My favorite part of the Zoo is the sea lion area. It is fun to watch the sea lions play. The Zoo also has a petting zoo and an Insectarium, each of which has an entry fee.
Victoria's is a quaint bookstore in downtown Arlington Heights. The store has a wide selection of rare and used books. The staff is very friendly and will bend over backwards to help you find what you are looking for. The store is stuffed full of books so you are bound to find something of interest. The store also hosts book signings. That adds to the overall warm and welcoming atmosphere of the establishment.
My mother-in-law treated me to a Mother-to-be package at this spa when I was pregnant. I was a little nervous because I had never been to a spa before and did not know what to expect. I really enjoyed the facial and massage portion of the package. Both were very relaxing. Both of these technicians were very friendly and accomodating. I also had a pedicure and manicure as part of the package. I enjoyed the pedicure. However, I did not feel that the manicure was worth the money. I did not feel the manicurist was very attentive. I think that she was working on too many people at once. Also, she did not do anything different than I do for myself at home--in fact, I think I do more! All in all, it was a good experience. I definitely recommend The Best for massages and facials but not for a manicure.

Didier Farms adds an element of rural fun to suburban Chicago. The farm sports a farm stand where the produce grown on the farm is sold. The best time of the year to visit the farm is during the Pumpkin Festival. During the festival, the farm has a petting zoo, hayrides, and a corn maze. There also are other family oriented activities. Our favorite thing to do is to go and pick a pumpkin. You can either ride out to the pumpkin patch to pick your own or select one from the pre-picked bunch. Didier Farms is a great family destination for fall.

Oak Creations has some of the highest quality solid oak furniture that I have seen. My husband and I bought a kitchen table and chairs from them two years ago. All of our visitors always comment on how much they like the set. Not only does the establishment have high quality furniture, it also has a high quality staff. The staff is very helpful and accomadating. Many of the pieces can be made to your specifications which is a great plus. You can also have the hardware on the pieces changed to match your decor. I love Oak Creations and am definitely going to buy there again!
