Cite' Paris Salon
I found Alan Kosta on Citysearch, read some great reviews, and book an appointment with him. I don't know who wrote the great reviews, but I would NEVER recommend him to anyone I know.
I got highlights (which I am happy with), and wanted him to cut about 4 or 5 inches off. The cut he gave me was obviously uneven, and when I pointed it out to him, he cut a few places and then said "ok, all done". I could tell that it was still uneven, but by that time had lost all faith in his ability. He didn't listen to the cut or style that I wanted, and he wasn't receptive to my reaction. I definitely won't be going back there again.
PROS: NONE!
CONS: Terrible cut, slow service
Francescas Collections
Each time I treat myself with a trip to Francesca's I am not disappointed. They have beautiful jewelry that is not ridiculously priced. The layout is fun, great selection, and though the space is small it is not cramped. If you're looking for a special occasion or just because, I would highly recommend Francesca's.
PROS: Selection, staff
CONS:
Brucettes Shoes Incorporated
I went to Brucettes with a friend who was looking for the perfect wedding shoe. We thought we'd find a larger selection than was actually there, and trying to enlist the help from a salesman was almost impossible. When one man finally did make the time to 'help' us, he was rude and short tempered. It might have just been a bad day for him, but I know I won't be going back.
Tanglewood Pharmacy
If you ever need to be able to run into a store to find a present for a co-worker, family member, or a friend this is a great place to go. They have a fun mix of cards, stationary, and very nice gifts. The parking is almost never a problem, and I've always been able to find something great here. Another plus. . . you can fill a prescription while you shop.
Kellie's Pampered Pet Inn
I've only taken my dog here a couple of times, but I've been pretty pleased with the care and quality of the kennel. They only walk the dogs a couple times per day, but it is clean, and they are outside for about 30 minutes at a time. It is conveniently located, and they offer full services (washing/grooming and boarding).
Esquire Fine Cleaners
This cleaners is conveniently located, but their service is only standard. I had to wait to be helped, and their turn-around is a little slower than normal. It took quite a while for my clothes to come back, but everything seemed to be in good shape.
El Pueblito Place
If not, this is a great place to try one. They have a great setup in the side yard of the restaurant perfect for a breezy Houston day. Wait until the weather cools off, gather some friends, and plan to stay for a couple hours in their cabanas full of pillows and sheilded from the sun. The staff is great about refilling drinks often, and the prices aren't outrageous.
PROS: Great drinks, good food, fun place
CONS: Parking is terrible
Tasting Room Llc
This classy operation has two locations: Uptown Park and a newer spot in Midtown. I haven't been to the new shop in Midtown, but I am a huge fan of TTR in Uptown.
If you have any questions, be sure to check out their website; it is user friendly and it has a lot of great info. From live music, wine classed, and food pairings, you can definitely find something you are interested in checking out.
PROS: Selection, knowledgeable staff
CONS: Price, food selection is limited
Buffalo Exchange
If you want a bargain and you aren't afraid of getting your hands a little dirty, this is the place to go. They have a huge variety of women's and men's clothing, partially sold second hand, and partially from the Buffalo Exchange line.
I've seen Seven jeans for around $80, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, and a ton of other name brands. Actually, if you're looking to sell your clothes, you should know before you go that they are very selective.
They have everything from shoes, purses, belts, sunglasses, jeans, skirts, shirts, sweaters, jackets, and the list goes on.
If you haven't been, I would definitely recommend you check it out. . . just don't forget the Purell.
PROS: Selection, parking behind the building
CONS: Crowded on weekends
Fox Sports Grill
This sports bar is located in the Galleria at the corner of Sage and Westheimer. I've gone for work events and just to meet friends after work. Time after time I have felt neglected at the bar; maybe they should think about heavier staffing on busy nights.
While I haven't been very impressed with the service, the food is decent for a sports bar. But, with all the choices we have in this city, FSG is on the lower end of my list.
PROS: Ample parking, good drink selection
CONS: Poor service, gets crowded
