With OSSC being conveniently located Ive had them cut and style my hair as well as My children's hair. Not only are they inexpensive they also allow walk-ins which are always welcome. Great hours of operation is also a plus in my book. They also offer other services as well such as nails. Yes these are students practising on your hair but they are also watched by their superiors to make sure you get the cut and style which you desire. By doing so they are learning and working towards their career path. Id suggest though after my brother went there with no idea what cut and style he wanted take an old photo with the cut and style you want. Because he failed to and didn't have a clue what he wanted so he was disappointed with his hair cut.
PROS: Inexpensive, Great Parking, Fast Service, Friendly Staff
CONS: Student Training may intimidate some
My oldest daughter attended ECOT for her Freshman and Sophomore year because of medical problems. Because of her frequent trips to the Hospital, home schooling was the best option for us but traditional home schooling in our situation would not have worked. When talking to her guidance counselor she talked about online schooling. I began doing research and I found ECOT to be affiliated with Columbus Public Schools yet she could use a computer which they provide along with Internet access they pay for to attend school without leaving home. This answered our prayers. She was in constant contact with teachers via email and chat sessions, mailed and given assignments/tests online. Because of online schooling with ECOT she was able to get her full credits for these 2 years. Thank God for ECOT because if she had not been able to have online schooling she would have continued in regular schooling but missing days which would have most likely lead her to repeat these school years. Bravo to ECOT and I highly recommend it to anyone with children in grades K-12.
PROS: Constant Access to Assignments, Wonderful Teachers, Convenient
CONS: Possible Equipment Repair, Cable ISP Only
Ive used German Village Taxi more times than I can remember. They are inexpensive, local to German Village, Downtown and the South Side of Columbus. Every taxi Ive ever been in was clean and I felt completely safe even when it was late night. When calling to arrange a pick-up average time to wait is 20 minutes but at times up to 45 minutes or more. Ive found most drivers to be very friendly but at times have had drivers with thick accents so there was a language barrier but again it depends on the driver. Ive found it is a good idea to attempt to have the exact amount plus tip since most drivers do not carry change. There is also no smoking in the taxi's so you will not have that old smoke smell when riding in them.
PROS: Inexpensive, Convenient, Courteous Staff, Clean, Safe
CONS: Possible long wait, Possible Language barrier with Drivers
Columbus Metro Library on S. High while not as large as other branches that Ive visited they do have a great selection of books and audio but limited selection of DVDs and movies. They offer an automated book check out process that makes checking out effortless and quick. They offer children's activities on the Weekends and during the Summer months which is very nice plus have computers for everyone to use. The staff has always been courteous and knowledgeable. The best part is its a great place to sit down and study.
PROS: Great Selection, Courteous Staff, Automated Book Process
CONS: Limited Space, Limited DVD Selection
When I first found the British Paper Mill I was just looking around the Southland Mall and was pleasantly surprised of such a place. They specialize in Collectible Comics, Magazines and Action Figures. They also carry Sports Memorabilia and books. They also trade and buy from customers. They have the most friendly staff that is knowledgeable about what they carry and the prices are great. They also offer discounts and sales which is a collectors dream. Lots of parking, while not very organized the selection is wonderful. Limited days and times of operation is the downside.
PROS: Good Selection, Informative and Friendly Staff, Reasonable Prices, Sales
CONS: Unorganized, Limited Hours Of Operation,
During the warmer months you will find not only myself and my children but hundreds of families within German Village enjoying Schiller Park. With the fishing pond, basketball courts, baseball diamond and rec center its simple to take a picnic lunch and enjoy yourself there. During the Summer months they have outside Theater which is very nice as well. They also have special Summer programs for children. If you live near downtown you will love this history filled area. Schiller has so much to offer to everyone of any age.
PROS: Fishing Pond, Historic Location, Clean, Safe, Children's Programs
CONS: Busy hours are afternoon.
To say the least I was very pleased and impressed with Victory's. I'm a BBW so entering into anything targeting fitness is at times intimidating to larger people. I found not only was all the staff NOT a size 5 but everyone was friendly and very accepting. They have a pool that is open between Aqua classes which is alot of fun as well as a hot tub to relax in after your workout. They have promotions all the time and your first visit is free. The huge facility is clean and maintained well. They have an individual weight loss program which also involves which workout is best for you. They are open late 6 days a week to boot. Plus which is great you are not pressured into buying a membership which was refreshing. They are also handicap accessible.
PROS: Individual Weight Loss Program, Late Hours, BBW Friendly, Huge Facility
CONS: Only 3 locations in Columbus, OH
Ive visited the family owned and operated Craters for lunch many times over the last 10 years. Great atmosphere, great prices, excellent food, large servings, vast spirits selection and spacious. The atmosphere is casual to conservative since it not only caters to the German Village area locals but many from downtown which is less than 10 minutes away. A must have for chocolate lovers is their hot fudge brownie with ice cream.
PROS: Great Food, Great Prices, Non Smoking Environment, Spacious
CONS: Limited Hours of Operation
My children have attended Reeb Avenue Elm for the past 5 years. They had wonderful teachers and experiences there up till this year. Why? The city of Columbus decided some of the older school needed either closed or a face lift. Southwood which is a few blocks away was one that needed a face lift. The children and many teachers was transferred to Reeb this year. This caused many of the prior teachers to go into retirement as well as some being transferred to other schools. Now with double its students and other underlying troubles there are more fighting amongst the children, less teachers to deal with the problems and less individual learning experiences for the children. Ive also noticed a lack of security since prior years all doors was kept locked when attempting to enter from the outside unless buzzed in by the office now its kept unlocked for anyone from the street to enter. Its unsafe!
PROS: Location is Large, Excellent Teachers
CONS: Lack of Security, Limited Parking, Unorganized, Many Behavior Problems
In this day and age there are very few excellent hair salons that allow walk-ins but Friesta's does plus no long waits. Friendly staff, current on all the latest trends, great prices, open evening hours and best yet plenty of parking. Location is great since its right in the Great Southern Shopping Center.
PROS: Great Prices, Friendly Staff, Latest Trends, Evening Hours
CONS: Location fills up quickly.
