Dr. Timothy Runco
I don't think there is anyone on the planet more afraid of the dentist than I am. Dr. Runco is so nice though and he makes you feel so comfortable. He talks to you every step of the way and sometimes when you are in a frightening situation there is nothing in the world better than someone being patient and kind. He does excellent dental work and he is smart. Plus Ladies! The man is good looking too and since we women all hate the dentist it sure is nice to have someone working on you who is easy on the eyes. (smile) I had all my teeth out, dentures put in and when I had complications he was so responsive to my needs. I would recommend Dr. Runco to any and everyone... especially if you are a little frightened of dental visits.
PROS: Excellent dental work and knowledgeable dentist and staff.
CONS: Kind of expensive
Sassy Sensations Boutiques
I was fortunate enough to go to a house party that a woman I work with gave and she had a Sassy Sensation's woman there to host the party. Boy does this store have any and EVERYTHING you could think of to spice up your life. If you have seen their TV commercial that is not the HALF of what they have for sale. Any and everything you could think of to enhance your sex life is available at this store. I love their products and I had so much fun at this party. The woman from the store came and showed us so many items and we got some of them demonstrated for us. Their store is kind of far from where I live but I got to see just about everything they have in the catalog at the party. You can host a party and receive free gifts also. I can't wait to attend another party. The girls that I work with have them all the time. If you get a chance... be sure to attend one of their parties or visit the store soon.
PROS: Interesting inventory to put SPICE in your Life.
CONS: Actual Store is pretty far away and there is only one location.
Yellow Cab
The only time you can depend on a yellow cab in Pittsburgh now is if you flag one down in downtown Pittsburgh or at the airport or something and get them to ride you where you need to go. I remember a time when you could call yellow cab and schedule a pick up days ahead of time and could always count on them to show up and ride you. Now if you really need someone to come to your home and pick you up for a ride these are not the folks to call because 9 times out of 10 they are a no show. It is a shame that the best way to get a ride in Pittsburgh is to ride jitneys and really jitney service you are getting any kind of driver in any kind of car. I would feel safer riding a yellow cab... if only I could catch one. Then when you do catch one on the fly the fare starts at such a high price you are tempted to tell them never mind about the ride. The yellow cab company use to be located more centrally in Pittsburgh also and since they have moved to West Mifflin they are more undependable than ever. This is such a BIG city to not have a decent reliable cab service.
PROS: Reliable, licensed drivers.
CONS: Unless you flag one on the street to get a cab. They never to your home

I have been a member of the PTA for three years straight now at the elementary school that my grand-children go to and these photographers are always the ones we get to do our student photographs. They do wonderful pictures and NEVER do you get any complaints. You don't get to pick and choose your school pictures for your children so we wanted the photos to be wonderful the first go round and this place does an excellent job. They offer a variety of backgrounds that you can pick from. They offer quite a variety of photo packages and they also offer key fobs, calendars, magnets and personalized pictures. They just started this process called "lifetouch" that cost an additional $3 per photo package but it really makes a WONDERFUL difference in your photographs. They are so good at what they do they offer you a 100% guaranteed satisfaction guarantee. That should speak for their work right there. They are great photographers... for all ages... but I especially enjoy using their services at our elementary school. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone.

Safelite Auto Glass
Why does everything that happens to the glass in your car is never something that insurance will pay for? I just knew that I could get my insurance company to pay for this new windshield, but since I could not I went to Safelite. Their customer service is wonderful. They take good care of you and they take good care of your car. It is one of the FEW places where you go and they explain everything they are going to do and just how much it is going to cost up front. I found the girls in the office knowledgeable and the technicians that worked in the garage area doing the actual repairs to my windshield were very considerate of me and did a nice job. Most places frown when you want to watch them work... I know it is an insurance problem, but I still would like to see exactly where my money is going. I like to get a peak at the work in progress and at least here they did not bite my face off when I went in to look while they were working. I really like this place and would recommend them to anyone needing work on their windshield. I hope I never need a new windshield again, but if I ever do I will definitely go back to them. Very professional, worked in a timely manner, and with NO hidden costs.

Allegheny County Bar Association
This is always a good place to call if you need the services of an attorney and don't know who to call. I would definitely suggest a phone call to them for a referral. Your first visit/consult with the attorney is always just $20 if you schedule your appointment through them. Sometimes when you are lucky that $20 visit can solve your problems... but if you need further help you are going to pay whatever that particular attorney charges. It is helpful to be able to get some type of legal advice though if you are broke. I have called them several times and they have always referred me to someone nice, professional and in my area where I live so that I didn't have to travel far. It is hard to find a GOOD attorney nowadays... most of them just want money and do no work. I was always happy with a referral from the ACBA. Good luck in your search for legal services.

CONS: Only your first visit to the attorney is $20.
C S Kim Karate Inc
Teaching the kids self defense doesn't only teach them to do martial arts but it also raises their self-esteem and there is nothing like the exercise that you get when you participate in karate. They do have a pretty steep fee for service based on the age of the pupil and you do have to buy the outfits for them to wear to practice. Other than that I would recommend this as an after school activity for all the kids. I think too many kids spend too much time sitting in front of the TV. My youngest grandson has cebral palsey and my daughter sent him to class here... not that he will ever be great at martial arts but the exercise was EXCELLENT for his condition. Even if the kids are not interested in martial arts per se they would love this school. The teachers are great and they really work with the kids. My three grandchildren all loved it.
PROS: Great exercise and self esteem builder.
CONS: Pricey fee for service.
Partylite Independent Consultant
I must admit now... they are a little pricey but they have some beautiful furnishings, candles and trinkets for your home. Valerie hosted a party that I attended and I really feel like I over spent, but I just could not help it. There are so many places that sell scented candles and holders but none of the candles last like partylite. None of them give off that wonderful scent as strong as the partylite candles also. You have to be careful when ordering though because if you order something that has more than one piece you have to buy the pieces separately. That kind of sends the price up also, but these are the kinds of home products that will last you a lifetime. If you ever get a chance to attend a party or you feel you want to get some very nice things for your home you can contact her directly. If you host a party at your home and have Valerie in as consultant you get a nice discount and free merchandise for hosting.
PROS: Beautiful home furnishings
CONS: A little bit expensive.
Two Men and A Truck
My daughter had a small moving job and it was really not enough furniture to call a moving company so we called two men and a truck. What a blessing to have those guys! They were such great workers also... and handled her furniture will all the TLC that a regular moving company would use. They are also insured and they accept any job that you have big or small. If you need a small moving job completed these are the guys to call. They are reasonably priced and they are good workers. You can't say enough good things about folks who actually try to do a good job nowadays. NO one takes any pride in their work anymore, but these guys do. I recommend calling them today!

Consumer Credit Counseling
I really appreciate the credit counseling services and the fact that they often lower your payments and get rid of the fees on your bills for you where you only have to pay the principal part of the loan or something... but they want you to pay them all the money every month and not pay your bill collectors directly. If you feel comfortable doing that, then this is a good program for you. It is also a free credit counseling service. I just hesitate to say sign up with them if you feel like you might default on your payments or something because they do report to all three credit agencies whether or not you are making your payments. This could be a good thing for your credit report or just another bad mark on there depending on how you handle this. I recommend their services because they do work with your creditors to lower the amount of money that you owe.
PROS: Excellent if you are sure you can keep the agreement.
CONS: Another bad mark on your credit report if you default.
