I will never go into this business again. I had intentions of buying a present for a good friend. As soon as I mentioned that I was a medical marijunan patient the short young girl that worked behind the counter said she would not sell anything to me. This was a few weeks ago on a Friday the girl should remember unless she is that rude to people on a daily basis.

Her reason was that I stated what I was going to use it for. I didn't. She never even gave me a chance to say that this was a present for someone else.

Not only was she rude but she also was loud and embarrassing. We drove all the way from Roseburg just to shop here.

PROS:

Roseburg Country Club

The Roseburg Country Club easily has the nicest golf course in the Douglas County area. The greens are very well maintained. Beyond maintained I would say maincured. The hazards are well positioned and wonderfully problematic.The greens are deciving and make life just a little edgy. The players are generally very well mannered and friendly.

PROS: Wonderful course, atmosphere great
CONS: expensive

Douglas County Animal Control Licensing

Douglas County Animal Control Licensing is run out of the Court House (the Sheriff's department to be exact). One person runs the desk and they have two (perhaps three) officers that cover all of Douglas County. The licensing is simple dogs older then 6 months must be licensed. If they are altered there is a considerable discount. Call 440-4327 and talk to Gloria. She is a very busy women but will gladly help anyone who calls.

PROS: All persons with DC Animal Control are very helpful
CONS: They are very busy people

Fullerton Veterinary Hospital

They have been out of business for a couple of years now. The store has sat empty on Stephens street. I tried calling the contact number provided and got the following, " We're sorry. You have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service. "

PROS: Good location
CONS: They are out of business

Herscher, Luke, Do - Sutherlin Health Clinic

This is the last of the type of doctors that actually listens to his patients. I would highly recommend Dr. Herscher. He is a very compassionate person and well as other members of his staff. He is also knowledgable and keeps up on current medical happenings. He only takes patients that are from Sutherlin and north thereof.

PROS: A doctor that listens, knowledgable, compassionate
CONS: Only services Sutherlin and north

Rick's Medical Supply Inc

My husband needed a special type of wrist brace. Nobody in town had it until we went to Rick's Medical Suppy. Not only did they carry exactly what we needed but they had a variety of styles to choose from. When we looked at the price tag we got another surprize...they were very affordable. The people that work there are very friendly and helpful. I wish we would have gone there first. I would recommend Rick's Medical Supply to anyone.

PROS: Well organized store, large selection, good prices
CONS: Wish the store was larger

Mercy Medical Center

Since the downfall of Community Mercy is now the only Hospital in town. They have no competion and they have let themselves go some. Customers tend to be treated more like a number then a person. But I guess that comes with any big hospital. Still the most important thing is the quality of your doctor. That's the person that will make certain that all the needed hoops are being jumped through.

PROS: only game in town

Long's Flowers

Long's has proven to be Roseburg's tried and true florist. They are great for those last minute arrangements and they deliver also. When they say they will deliver and what they say they will do they do. It's nice to know that you can count on these folks. They are very professional and compassionate. As a former church secretary I never had a problem with Longs. They were always respectful and polite. Carry a great selection of flowers and arragements to select from. Their prices are competitive also.

PROS: Fast, professional, good selection and prices.
CONS: Some flowers are seasonal.

Adapt

They assume everyone is a junkie. If you smoked pot many years back they assume that you are addicted. They find it impossible that a person can quit cold turkey. Everyone but themselves is a drooling addict that needs their help but at a price of course. I find it an insult that they think I don't have enough will power to quit an addictive behavior. Most people do stupid things when they are teenagers and as they grow and mature they realize these things are not right and leave them behind.

PROS: they provide the kleenex
CONS: if you drink a beer you an alcoholic, smoke a joint you're a junkie

Douglas County Health & Social Services Mental Health Tty

I was treated like a number not a person here. They misdiagnosided me and put me on the wrong type of medicine. I sat through group therapy and realized that this didn't apply to me but I was never correctly diagnoised. Ended up just quitting cold turkey (which is not recommended). This is common in this type of work. Don't know if it's a lack of confidence in the doctor or just a lack of training (ignorance) on their part. They learn it back in med school and that is where the learning ends. Small town small minds.

CONS: over priced, not up to date, misdiagnoised through ignorance
