Lance Brown saw us through a nightmare of a closing on a house, and protected our interests every step of the way. He always kept us on top of the status of the process, and went above and beyond the call of duty on several occasions. He has a great way of putting things into terms you can easily understand and is incredibly patient with any question you can throw at him.
He has since helped us with planning for our future and has been invaluable in considering all the many possibilities.
PROS: Incredibly knowledgeable and hard-working. Always in your corner.
Dr. Holdcraft was recommended to me by a co-worker when I moved to the area two years ago. I have found the level of care for both sick and well visits to be equally great. Recommendations about diet, exercise, and other general tips are attended to, and diagnoses are thoroughly explained. All questions are patiently taken and answered. There is a genuine concern for your long-term health and welfare.
The nursing staff is very helpful and conscientious, as well. I recommend this practice to anyone looking for a place to bring the whole family, from pediatrics to adults.
PROS: Family practice, the whole family can be cared for under one roof.
CONS: Sometimes busy.
Mercer County Community has a surprisingly wide array of curricula for almost any major. The computer science and general electives my husband took there were all taught by great professors who took personal interests in their students. The non-profit management certificate was also well-taught and attended.
MCCC is a great alternative for anyone looking to start their college career, continue it, or supplement the existing degree with great certificate programs.
PROS: Inexpensive alternative to a 4-year university with great professors.
Mrs. G has been in business a long time in this area. In fact, the paper just had an article about the original Mrs. G in her 70s finally handing operations over to her daughter this past week.
Most people cruise right up route 1 straight to Best Buy, Wal-Mart and Circuit City, but Mrs. G still has a great selection and competitive pricing. Their staff is also far more knowledgeable than anything you'll find at a major chain.
Before you settle on that fridge from Sears, go check out Mrs. G, and see if they can't match that price.
PROS: Friendly, knowledgeable salespeople, first-rate service.
CONS: Selection and prices can't always compete with the chains, but they try!
I could not recommend this doctor more highly. He immediately determined that my son was experiencing a significant hearing loss because of a series of ear infections. The testing was thorough, and the scheduling of the surgery was easy.
Our son was in and out in no time, and the difference in his speech development could be seen almost right away! What a difference he made in our young boy's life.
PROS: Great bedside manner, great office staff, thorough, and knowledgeable.
A great array of pets to choose from, and a very helpful staff. Lizards, snakes, birds, hamsters, fish... you name it, they've got it. I am a little concerned about the source for their puppies, but all the animals seem well-cared for, and the staff really is very helpful.
PROS: A huge selection of pets and pet supplies, and a helpful staff.
CONS: Not sure if their puppies are from "puppy farms" or not.
This florist really does a great job with filling out a bouquet around one or two selected flowers. Their delivery service is very prompt and accommodating. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They also feature a nice selection of gift items and knick-knacks related to flowers.
PROS: Very helpful staff, good prices, and great arrangements
CONS: Store's interior is a little odd, appears to have been a doctor's office.
Keith's Kuts usually has 4 chairs going in their new location in the strip mall with Marrazzo's supermarket, so there's usually no wait. It's very clean and well-lit, and all the barbers (Keith, Dave, Anthony) are skilled and friendly. Plenty of space to wait if you have to, and a good selection of reading materials. $15 for a regular cut. They also do a great job with kids' hair (even my son, whose hair is very curly).
Open until 2:30 on Saturdays, and open late on Thursday evenings until 8pm, I think.
PROS: Fair prices, no waiting, friendly, skilled barbers.
CONS: No discount on kids' cuts.
A very good menu of traditional Italian as well as chef's creations. Portions are on the small side, but are delicious and fresh ingredients seem to be used throughout. Nice ambience, very tastefully decorated, and the service is good. A full bar is on the premises, and a nice wine list is available.
PROS: Nice menu with traditional Italian and some more exotic dishes.
CONS: Smallish portions and somewhat expensive.
Dr. Eduardo Flores was my ob/gyn during my last pregnancy. There was virtully no waiting times for appointments (less than 15 minutes before seeing the physician). Dr. Flores is funny, compassionate towards a pregnant woman's feeling, and most importantly, he is dependable. I had a crisis on Christmas and he returned my phonecalls and called the emergency room several times to make sure I was ok. He also checked up on me the day after. I felt completely at ease with him at my first appointment. He is professional and an all around great man.
The nurses are very nice and accomodating. They always gave my preschooler lots of attention and a lollipop at the end of my prenatal visits.
PROS: great ob/gyn and staff, a pleasant experience everytime
