We regularly use the Hermitage library and have been very impressed with the library as a whole. In particular I love the website access that allows me to reserve books and movies. When the items are available I receive an e-mail notification. It also allows you to renew books and see due dates. Very convenient for busy people!
I've moved around alot including 3 major metro areas and am an avid scrapbooker. Lasting Legacy is the best scrapbooking store I've found. Even the scrapbooking places in Nashville and Louisville don't come close to comparing! Lasting Legacy offers the largest selection of papers and embellishments. They always have the newest trends in embellishments. They offer classes, crops, and a frequent buyer card to help you save money. The prices are good! Whenever I'm in Lexington I always stop in to make a big purchase.
Ruth's is a one stop bridal shop for the wedding party attire. We ordered our Alfred Angelo bridesmaids dresses for our 2004 wedding from Ruth's Bridal. The staff were very helpful and knew about the styles and types of dresses. They helped with invitations and tuxedoes as well. Ruth's offers everything you need! The prices were the best I found in the area as well.
CONS: Need more selection of bridesmaids dresses in more sizes
I visited the Speed Art Museum during a travelling impressionists exhibit. I was very impressed with the museum itself. The volunteers were extremely knowledgeable as they led visitors around and told about the paintings. There was adequate parking in the area. The gift shop offered a nice variety.
The Chocolate Scrapbook offers the best selection in town. They offer the latest trends in embellishments, papers, and techiniques. The staff take the time to teach you new techniques when you ask about them. They always seem to be getting new things in.
I lived in The Fountains at Andover for approximately 6 months before being relocated for work. I received a great deal for a spacious one bedroom apartment plus a free garage which was wonderful! The apartment itself is well laid out. I love the vanity in the bedroom and the walk in closet. The linen closet is also a nice plus since many apartments lack them. A washer and dryer was included in my rent. The facilities were gorgeous and I loved the pool area. If I moved back to Lexington I would definitely consider living here again.
I did much research on apartments in Louisville before moving there. I received a phenomenal deal on a huge 1 bedroom apartment. The bathroom was incredibly big with w/d hookup, garden tub, linen closet, and double vanities. The bedroom was spacious enough to have a computer desk, full size bed, and full dresser. The walk in closet was large enough for a bookcase and plenty of room for storage and clothing. The pool area is beautiful and the grounds are immaculate. I was very pleased with my time at Camden Oxmoor.
The Peddler's Mall is a fun store to browse on a regular basis. This mall rents out booths to individuals and businesses so it offers an ecclectic selection from clothing to records to makeup to home decor. Its fun to just go and see what you can find.
The home of Cassius Clay is a state historical site in the Richmond area. In October Eastern Kentucky University puts on the Ghost Walk tours in the late evenings after dark. Drama students give guided tours of the home as actors in period costumes tell the story of the home's residents. Its very informative and a fun, non-scary Halloween activity. Refreshments are usually served in the slave's quarters afterwards.
I rented from Hager Rental for almost 2 years. The size of the apartments were very spacious and the rent was good. Even the pet deposit and rent were reasonable. The apartments were in pretty good shape. Whenever I called for maintenance I received repairs within a day or two at the most. I was very pleased.
