I got my Jetta from New Century and my Mom purchased her Bug there also. For the past 5 years we've returned for their auto servicing. The buying process was quick, pleasant and a great deal. The auto servicing mirrors the same great customer service. With reasonable prices and good turn around. It's not a huge dealership, but they have always had what I've been looking for. Plus, their waiting rooms are nice and it's a good location among several other auto dealerships.
Gen Kai is by far the best sushi in CDM. Their fish just melts in your mouth! They even make a California Roll that blows away all the competition. Located right in the center of PCH in CDM, it's a great location. The prices are high, but the quality is worth it. The CA Roll is $7 to give you a benchmark to the other prices, but it's well worth it. The staff is really friendly and it's always crowded. Also try the tempura...it's also really good! The dress is casual.
The Raymond is a historical treasure of Pasadena who has recently had vast improvements in their menu. It has always been more that just casual dining, but in the past few years their menu has really gotten a lot better. The prices are fairly high, but now it's worth it. The tastes and and combinations of flavors are exquisite. The staff is nice, a little stand-offish, but not bad. And the wine selection is great also. I definitely recommend the Raymond for a nice brunch or elegant dinner. If you go in the summer be sure to sit on the back patio. The front patio is nice, but you hear all the street traffic.
We used BJ Discount when our water heater broke and we didn't know who to call. My father-in-law highly recommended them and he was right! Bj Discount did a great job for a great price! We really had to look around and make sure we were getting what we needed, but I was happy to see that we got a great deal. We were very happy with the service and their reliability. The service rep came when they said they would and the installation was quick and easy. I definitely recommend!
For as a beautiful town as La Canada is, their library doesn't match their community. The library is pretty runned down and the resources aren't that impressive. There is some great kids programming, and they do have a nice kids section. But there isn't much of an adult section to speak of. If you are looking for real resources you're much better off visiting the Pasadena Library not too far away. But it is nice that the La Canada library is small and easier to navigate.
Better known as the La Brea Tar Pits, this is a one of kind museum with a focus on prehistoric life centered in our very own Los Angeles. I must say that as a kid this was one of my most favorite museums, but as an adult I find it pretty small and quick. The exhibits don't change all that much, but that's because it's focal point will always be the tar pits. But there are some fun interactive models including places were you get to feel what it's like to try and lift yourself out of the tar. Again, it's great for kids and the admission is pretty low. A definite must!
I lived in Park La Brea for three years in the towers and definitely recommend it. It has raised in price over the past two years, but when I lived there the rent was incredibly reasonable for the large 1200 sq. ft 2 bed / 2 bath apartment I rented, and it was rent controlled. Right across the street from The Grove, it was a great central location to Hollywood, the West Side and Beverly Hills. The parking was a little difficult, but the grounds are gated and safe. The management company isn't the most effecient on earth, but that's hard to come by. I loved living at Park La Brea and I recommend it!
The Frog House has a pretty good selection of boards and accessories, but isn't a big shop. The prices are pretty high too, at least they aren't as competitive as some of the other surrounding surf shops. The staff is great, but it's not as reliable and vast as some of the other shops. I'm a bigger fan if I can go in get clothes and surf equipment all together. It's worth a look around, especially if you're an avid surfer and not just a tourist.
If you didn't know better you'd think you weren't in a Public Library visiting this one! This is a wonderfuly planned out and well stocked library with all the needs of the community met from kids to adults. They have great workshops for kids and all the latests books. The inventory is really quality and not runned down. It's a nice visit for any age and it's a public library to be proud of.
Cooking.com is a great online resource for brand name cookware at reasonable prices. With brands like All Clad, Kitchen-Aid, Calphalon, Krups and OXO this is a one-stop shop for all the products you need. I like it because most of the time when I go into stores I can't find the colors or selection I am looking for, but with Cooking.com they have all the product lines in their entirety. Their service is fast, the prices are great and they are very reliable. I definitely recommend.
