This warehouse is absolutely enormous with a wide selection of both traditional and modern furniture. They carry high end brands, but not the highest end. Also, be sure to ask if the floor model is the only one in stock. Generally, they have additional quantities and you don't have to buy the one right off the floor. The prices are great and it's pretty easy to navigate the show floor. The have tons of living room and dining room sets. Not as many bedroom sets, but still a nice selection.
Many followers of Volcom don't even realize that they have one store devoted to their brand. Located among other clothing boutiques, 126 La Brea is home to Volcom's concept clothing. Volcom has always had totally reasonable prices and this store has everything they are known for including a wide selection of clothes for men and women. Also, don't miss out on their art gallery located at the far back of the store!
The Kitchen for Exploring Foods is an excellent blend of gourmet tastes with classic recipes. We often order food to-go for dinner and even arranged for appetizer platters for my wedding after party. They are a unique establishment that is worth checking out. The prices are fairly reasonable, and even though they are a little hard to find, it's worth every trip. They are always part of our restuarant list!
I have only one thing I get at Lucky Boy, and yet it keeps me going there every Saturday morning.....the Breakfast Burrito. And I'm not alone! Each time I go I'm in line with the other Breakfast Burrito believers....sometimes dozens! For less than $5 I get the largest best tasting breakfast meal in town. Their menu is quite extensive, despite my one-item rave and the prices are really reasonable. The dining experience isn't glamorous, so I usually take my food to go. Also try their fried zuchinni!
I have been to several Happy Nails locations and this one is definitely the best!! It's atomosphere is very relaxing and their staff is incredible! Exteremely friendly and helpful! I had a wonderful experience when I went with my girlfriend. Great Price! Great Pedicure! And a definite for a recommendation. They also do a great spa pedicure and toenail designs! Plus, the location is great! Next to Jamba Juice, Gap and restuarants.
I was tired of paying the high prices to take in my VW to the dealer for servicing and decided to try an independent shop. I definitely got lucky with this one. It's a well maintained auto repair that specializes in Audis and VWs. The service was amazing I took my car in at 5:30pm on Friday and it was ready about 2:30 on Saturday! It was half the price too!! Ask for Tim and you won't be sorry!
Besides a great location (near Colorado Blvd), Ravissant does a great job maintaining a stylish salon feel and hip hairstylists that are well trainined an accomodating. I really liked their hair coloring techqniues and have always felt more beautfiul walking out than I did coming in. I have seen several hair stylists, but really liked Katie the most. This is a great salon for both men and women and their prices are pretty reasonable. I definitely recommend.
The Rose Bowl Flea Market has all others beat! The layout is huge! And you definitely don't have to be into antiques to want to visit. It's every second Sunday of the month and it features to sections: Old and New. Once you buy your ticket you can start anywhere, but the gates put you in to the New section. This part goes all around the Bowl and has things from CDs to Clothes to Shoes to Food to Home Decor to Gadgets and Jewelry. People from from all around to sell their items, and it's just fun to see what you can find. Plus the Old section has an attraction to anyone looking for furniture to re-finish or old linens or memorabilia you never thought you'd see again. This is by far and away the best Flea Market in LA. Don't miss another one! And get there early! Before the heat and the crowds! I think it opens at 6am.
Thalia Street is not only an easy place to stop in, since it's just a block up from Main Beach, it's also has great items. The girls clothes are cute and always trendy. This is one of my favorite palces to go at the beginning of summer to stock up on all the must-have skirts, bathing suits and accessories. The prices are totally reasonable and the staff is definitely helpful. It's a small location, but all the locals go. You can't pass this one up!
This was the first year I went to the Festival of Arts and it won't be my last. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. As a local resident the traffic around the venue has always driven me crazy, especially when I didn't know how wonderful the attraction was, but now I won't be complaining....I'll be part of the traffic! This is not only the most pleasant way to spend a weekend, it's also a great way to appreciate the local artists and their exquisite talent. More fun than a museum, this is a great place for familes, friends, couples and children to visit and take in all types of art. It's under $10 to enter and if you can't live without something you can always buy it. I definitely recommend a trip...it's will become an annual event.
