LC Imports may not look like much, but if you are in the need for a great slice of pizza or a sub sandwich look no further. This has been a local hang out of jr. high kids for years, but it has also been a staple in the Saturday afternoons for many LC families. The service is quick and friendly and they always have fresh ingredients. It's a quick in and out place on the way to soccer games or just for an afternoon in front of the tv. Their quality has remained consistent for years and has locals coming back year after year. Plus they do a great job of supporting local schools and sports teams!!
As a kid I used to walk down to LC Variety every weekend with my allowance to buy supplies to make something.....anything! They have a nice selection of gifts and craft supplies. To this day when I visit I don't leave empty handed. Whether I'm going for place cards, poster board, or a seasonal flag to hang outside my house, it's a nice place to visit and shop their selection. The prices are extremely reasonable and it's convienent next to Ralphs to stop in as you are running errands. Don't pass it up!
LC Books and Toys has long had a reputation for quality and educational childrens books and toys. Their owners have worked hard to partner with the local schools to order and have available the reading selections of all grade levels. It's nice to have business in town that still works hard to meet the needs of the community and provide upstanding inventory and service to its customers. This is also a great shop for children's presents. It's a delight to enter the store and I feel good being a long time customer to such a great business.
Over the past couple of remodels my Mom and I have always going to LC Paint & Wallpaper. Their prices are reasonable and they have wall to wall selection! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and their service is reliable. They used to be located in La Canada but are now convienently on Lake Ave. just off the 210. It's a great place to go for ideas and selection to match all your needs.
La Canada Video may appear to not meet your needs, especially since across the street is a huge Blockbuster, but I'm here to say that it will! How can you pass up a locally owend business for Big Brother? LC Video's prices are better, their late fees are better and they are just plain nice. The movie selection is great and it has always been where my family rents from. We wouldn't dream of going anywhere else but our local video store. With Round Table Pizza just a couple doors down....your Friday and/or Saturday night is set with a movie and dinner. No need to cross the street!
My visit to Laguna Sun was for their acclaimed sunless tanning booth (not Mystic), and I was looking for a new tanning salon to frequent....unfortunately it won't be Laguna Sun. The location is nice and the atmosphere inside is quiet, but when it comes to their sunless tanning I wouldn't step foot in again. It left droplets of the mixture all over me when I was done that didn't blend in or leave anything close to an even tan! It just left these horrible marks all over and after $35 dollars I was very disappointed. The receptionist tried to help me, but it didn't work and the experience left me unhappy and blotchy! I wouldn't go back.
As a local resident, I've long appreciated the hotel's beauty, grounds and goreous rooms. There is one aspect of the hotel I don't recommend....and that's their Tea Room. Several years the women in my family have gathered there for afternoon tea the day after Thanksgiving and every year it has been the exact same! The sandwiches and desserts never change, and they aren't that spectacular to begin with. This has been over the past 7 years and it's unfortunate that a hotel with a reputation like the Rizt hasn't changed or improved something that has needed it from the beginning. I will say, though, that the Tea Room does provide a spectacular view with pleasant seating. It's nice, but there are other Tea Houses that will meet all your expectations.
Tom's TOys has left a memory in my heart forever. It has been the toy store I've visited since I was 5 and will hopefully be there for me when I'm a mother. Besides being a delightful local toy store, Tom's has always had a great selection of toys for ages 1-13, including trendy toys and traditional toys adults remember. From toys focused on education to plain old for-fun toys, Tom's is just a diamond in the ruff. The prices are great! The staff is helpful and pleasant and Montrose is lucky to have such a great business that has made so many memories.
Turnabout, in my opinion, is far better than most surrounding Tea shops, including the Ritz Carlton. It's a small shop with two parts, the tea room and the tea store. The store includes every style set of tea china you could possibly imagine. They also have wide selection of antiques including estate jewelry. But the part that capture me the most is the tea room. It's bright and pleasant, small but the perfect size for afternoon tea. Plus, the tea sandwiches, scones and desserts they have are fresh, delicious and consistently amazing. I love this little tea shop and wouldn't go anywhere else!
The Apple Cart has been a staple to the homes of LC residents and their decor for the past 15 years! Their gifts range from jewelry to clothing to home decor and have always met the style of La Canada women. Owned by two local residents this store has been happily serving La Canada in strides. The atmosphere is bright and cheery and is a treat to visit. It's also a great place to bring out of town guests for a fun delightful experience.
