If you are looking for a unique gift for a grandparent, new parent, bride, etc.. why not make one for them at Art From the Heart in Coppell. They are very easy to find on Denton Tap and you can see them from the road. I have made a couple of gifts for people that they love. I make picture frames for wedding gifts and put the colors of the wedding on them as well as the names and date. I have also done this for a new baby. The price is one price for everything and you can ask for help and they have some really talented staff there that can add some decorations on and some can even paint names on and make them look very very neat.
Mist on Tan has ads telling you that you get a natural looking tan and it lasts for weeks. I went there to get a tan before a wedding because I wanted to wear a dress and I had no time to tan for real. They spray you down with what looks like an airbrush gun and the stuff doesn't smell good. I didn't see any results when I left but in a couple hours I started to look tan and a little orangey brown. The back of my legs had streaks and were really blotchy. I very disappointed and went back to see if there was anything I could do. I was told that that sometimes happens. I ended up wearing pants and have not gone back since to Mist on Tan.
Hurst TV and Appliance is a nice little shop that does repair. That is a hard thing to find these days. We took a VCR in to them to get fixed and they had it a day and called us to tell us that it was going to take a lot to fix it and we would be better buying a new one and that you could get a good one for much less than the repair but he would repair it if we wanted. I was very surprised that they would say that and he was being so honest about it. We ended up buying a new one and it was a lot less than what he had quoted the repair for. We were very very happy with our expericnce there and will go back for any and all our electronic repairs.
My sister took me here to paint plates for our parents anniversary and we had so much fun. You first get to pick out what piece you want to paint and they have everything from plates, mugs, picture frames, ornaments, etc. And then you sit down and pick out the colors you want to use. The staff is there to help you and show you what brushes work better and how to make swirls and decoration on them if you want. It was a great girl's day out and would be fun for any kind of party. The prices are a little high but you end up with a one of a kind gift.
My sister told me about Bark and Purr and we recently had to go out of town and needed a place to leave our puppy because no one in my family have an enclosed back yard. I was so impressed at how clean and nice the "retreat" was when we got there. The staff is very friendly and shows you around and lets you see where your pet will sleep and play. They explain everything to you and make you feel at ease leaving your pet there. The prices are very good and a lot less than we expected. You can even have them groommed while they are there. I will leave my puppy there again!
If you are looking for a cowboys jersey or a gift for a cowboys fan that is unique- try the Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop. They gave a couple- one in Arlington and one in Grapevine (that I know of). They have sweatshirts, t-shirts, mugs, clocks, etc. Basically any item they can stick the cowboys logo on. The prices are very high so I would recommend it only to those looking for the more unique cowboys items. The clerk wasn't very helpful but the store was crowded. It does get crowded on days that the cowboys are playing.
Between Kids is a re-sale shop that specializes in kids clothings. They take clothes and sell them for you. I was impressed with the amount of clothes that they have and the fact that a lot are name brands. I found a wonderful girl's christmas dress that still had tags on it and the price they were asking was 90% off of that! Great deal. The only negative is how small the store is and some people take strollers and kids in there and it gets crowded quick!
If you are looking for a high end pool table - try Billards and Barstools. These are for the serious pool player or for someone who wants to invest into a pool table. They are all made very nice and they have many kinds. Wood legs that are ornate in different colors and woods. All are slate tops and they can have custom felt put on in your color. I was impressed with the showroom and the staff- they know their pool tables and carry very nice lines. If you are looking for a great quality table and have the money to put into it- try out Billards and barstools.
If you are looking for a fun time for kids in door or need a place to have a child's party- try Lunar Mini Golf. It is at the Grapevine Mills mall (they recently moved into a smaller space). It is putt putt in the dark (not totally but pretty dark) and you use glow in the dark balls. All the holes are outlined and the area have glow in the dark rails. You can get glow in the dark bracelets and thing for kids. The prices are good and make for a fun rainy day activity for kids. They also host birthday parties but I don't know the prices- have just seen a lot of parties out there!
I was impressed with Cooper's Golf Park. I didn't expect as nice of greens and grass as they had. Everything is very well maintained and everything is green -which is rare for Texas! They rent carts and do have some equipment rental. They have a limited line of gloves and balls. I did enjoy playing there and will be back. They keep a good course and the staff was friendly. It was very easy to get to and we didn't wait to play when we arrived.
