Central Pak & Mail
A decently priced mailbox, worn store but clean and nicely managed. Theres parking in the back if you cant snag one in front or around the corner. Ive had a mailbox here for a couple of years, but the latest clerk is too fee happy; if you have any kind of oversized mail (which could be a small first class package), that she has to hold for more than a day, shell charge a 1.00 to 2.00 fee. Basically I feel like Im buying my mail from her. With the addition of the mailbox fee, thats a bit much I think. Will be adding my name to the waiting list at the local post office for a new box.
Milt & Edie's Drycleaners & Tailoring Center
This is a business that wants to cater to you. Centered where many of the TV and movie studios are, Milt & Edie have a playful flair for customer service. The place is bright and welcoming, the service is very prompt, theyve a popcorn machine, complimentary hard candies laid out, and personnel with name tags showing what country they mayve originated from (at least the last time when I went, they did). The service itself? Pretty good I think. The prices are higher than your local drycleaners, and the parking lot is quite difficult to enter (with very few spaces).
Newstand Etc
This newstand is a hole in the wall wedged between some storefronts on San Fernando. It makes a good stop for gum, the free L.A. Weekly, and for people wanting to pick up a quick cold drink. Go deeper in and you get a great selection of magazines, many of them special interest, industry, or hard to find. And of course on one wall rack is a huge amount of porn. You can browse here a while if you can ignore the occasional porn customers.
Manco Industries Inc
Manco services Macintosh computers, and they do maintainence for at least one local graphic design company I know of, thats why Ive gone to them when I had problems for my Mac. Messy office, but very knowledgeable and straightforward, pretty quick about diagnosing my computer and giving me the straight lowdown. I felt like I got good service. Id use them again.
MOBILE VET
Dr. Cauble is the most amazing man, truly. This is someone who really understands animals. His knowledge, intuition, compassion (most of all), enthusiasm and understanding was what guided me through my dear cats passing. And his staff is just as attentive and caring. Sure it costs more to have a vet come to your home to see a very shy pet or to help that pet to pass, but it is worth it. Everything is in his truck, he can really do all he can for your pet except perhaps surgery. He also services exotic animals and is very busy driving all over L.A. as the Mobile Vet, but getting him as your pets doctor is the best you can do for your animal companion and for yourself.
VCA Animal Hospital Burbank
What can I say, I think this place has deteriorated. In the past years Id seen it as a very popular, humane, and attentive office who had a clientele that included exotic animals (and photos of celebrity customers), to this very cold office with blank walls and an unsympathetic staff. The last time I was there, I found the doctor and staff very distant and unhelpful when it came to my poor cats cancer. And it certainly didnt help to witness so many of those little cedar boxes with petss ashes being delivered to their front desk. I advice people who really love their pets to find a more caring office.
Pak & Ship All
Nice and clean and pretty slick looking, this Mail Boxes Etc can look a bit cold, but the service is solid. Their supplies and services are also a bit pricey. If you dont mind renting a mail box for a little more just for a nicer, brightly lit enviroment, then an Etc box is for you. Parking for this mail box storefront is just not convenient, however. No parking lot or assigned spaces. The martial arts studio next to it is very popular and the parentss cars will take available spots on the busy street.
Medical Imaging Associates
Buildings on busy Wilshire, and if you cant find free (and time limited) parking in the neighborhood, it should cost at least two dollars beneath the building. Clean, small office, very efficiently run. No problems with handling of your paperwork and such, theyre very quick. Knowledgeable and attentive staff, I got good service during my exam. If you can get your discount through Planned Parenthood, their exams become very, very affordable.
Planned Parenthood - Burbank Health Center
Planned Parenthood really is a service for the community. You can do walk-ins and, if you dont mind the very long wait, youll get as much care and advice as they can provide, because they are pretty limited on what they can offer and do. Its a good place to start at if you dont have a regular Ob/gyn or have no money, as was my case. Like all well used offices this ones pretty worn, but its clean and the staff is attentive. Very convenient lot parking below.
Stahl Co
I go to the office in Burbank, Dr. Wu works from there and also somewhere in Glendale. Dr. Wu is a good doctor, knowledgable and intuitive. I do feel in good hands, he did my surgery after all. I do wish his office had better trained staff to handle the appointments and follow-ups and such. In my experience, I had a hard time getting appointments or getting pre-surgery procedures arranged. Kind of added to the stress when the office personnel gets a bit mixed up or forgetful.
