Althought you really have to sift through things, this store has lots of collectables and random stuff. It is very unique and probably will never find such an collection of organized stuff. If you need a unique gift and a funny gag gift this is your place. There are antiques, glassware, new merchandise and of course "memorabilia".
We recently were looking for a wedding gift for one of our friends. We headed out to the Village of Scenery Hill to tour the shops since we had heard so much buzz recently about it. Wow what a great day...I am so glad we stopped in this store (about a mile away from the other shops) everything is made on site and I was able to find a very special and unique wedding gift for our friends. All the stonewear is salt glazed which gives it a unique look, and a very pretty one at that.
Wow these ribs are some of the best around. I loved this place. The service was good, food was amazing and the atmosphere was right on point for what it is - a family owned resturaunt. The prices are great as well. I recomend this place with flying colors.
I was amazed when I found this diamond of a gift shop. I had not been to the village of Scenery HIll in some time and I am so glad I went back. This town has made a turn around and all the shops are top notch. During the course of my visit to the village I have to say that this shop was my absolute favorite. If I could have I would have bought EVERYTHING in the store. All types of gifts for anyone and everyone. This store had some really unique gifts that made me happy to be Christmas shopping....I love what I got for everyone and know that they too will be very pleased as well. The owner is such a doll and very willing to please you.
The Amish Woodshed sells quality furniture that is absolutely beautiful. They have wood pieces like dressers, beds, dining tables and chairs, hutches, outdoor furniture etc., but they also have upholstered furniture. All of it is top quality furniture and the wood furniture has a gorgeous finish. They will customize and stain the wood to your request. Having comparison shopped for furniture in other stores, I would say their prices are competitive, especially considering that it is so beautifully done. I would recommend going here to shop or at least compare if you are in the market for furniture
My grandfather is the man who has everything. Buying a present for him is nearly impossible. He does build models and had a few that he needed to complete for his special plane collection. I searched every where, and could not find it. I was talking to a friend and she told me to check out this place. Thank goodness I did - they had it, I now have the 3 kits to complete his collection and do not have to worry about getting him a gift for another 3 christmases.
Shady Side Academy is a private school available as both a day school and a boarding school. The grounds of the campus are lovely and very picture perfect. It is one of the top college prep schools around and the teachers are a gem. Students here receive a top rate education however many of them are spoiled brats that need to learn mannors and the value of a dollar. Many tend to be rich kids whose parents are not competent of raising them.
The Mattress Factory is a cool idea. Its a museum, to be sure, but it is not your typical idea of a musume. It lets its artists experiment with many different forms of art, not all are very "appealing" however the creativity and vision is really neat to see. It is worth a visit if you have the time or are in the area.
Along with the other art venues, the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts forms a key part of the gallery crawl and culture that makes Pittsburgh a place of culture.
While it is great to stop in on a quiet saturday afternoon, I highly recommend checking it out wwith family and friends. It will enlighten you and make you glad you did.
This museum is never the same place twice. It has interesting items on display and changes the attractions frequently. This is a great place to spend the day with guests to the area or family and there is a small coffee shop with a variety of pastries and coffees. The neat thing about this museum is it has an interactive art studio where visitors can make some of the screen prints that made the artist , Andy Warhol, famous.
