The best physical therapy center I've ever been to, the receptionist was extremely nice and helpful with any questions I had and the therapist was even better. The therapist I saw worked with me for an hour and was thorough in diagnosing my condition and planning treatment to fix it.
Their hours are great, including early morning and evening hours however street parking is difficult, but I believe you can get validated discounted parking. My insurance covered the treatment so I can't say if they're priced competitive if you don't have insurance.
PROS: skilled staff, good hours
I rented a great studio from this company and they were the best landlord I've ever had. The rent was good for the area but the service is what set them apart. Before I moved in they painted and installed new lights. After moving in they were extremely prompt when I had any problems (clogged tub, roaches in kitchen) and always kept the building well heated (radiator heat) Basically they did everything, I had absolutely zero complaints and ended up renting from them again a year later I liked them so much. They have a few different studio/1bedroom properties in lakeview you can check out, I'm sure they are all well maintained and you will be safe renting any of them. I rented the property at 1157 W Diversey.
PROS: awesome service, nice units
CONS: not the cheapest rent in the area
i have two cats i have taken here for everything-- their rabies vaccinations, getting their butt shaved, having their nails trimmed, getting their hair cut (lion cut) and i have never been disappointed. the vet is top notch, answers all my questions and doesn't rush me and the groomers are absolute pros. they cut my cat's hair with ease and i don't even think the cats mind it. they are located next to pets mart and their hours are great, i typically go in the evening after work. there is ample parking and the inside is very clean despite all sorts of creatures running around.
PROS: skillful vet and groomers
CONS: somewhat pricey
This tiny shop on north clark carries a surpisingly large selection of hifi speakers and equipment. they carry the entire line of paradigm speakers in addition to NHT and several other hifi brands. They have a listening room in back to hear all these great speakers, I recommend you bring your own CD and give them a listen. They also specialize in DJ equipment such as turntables and CD mixers. Finally they have a large selection of gadgets and headphones in the front. I found the prices to be competitive on the speakers and the staff was very laid back and intelligent.
PROS: Carries the best brands of speakers
CONS: No parking on clark, small cramped store
this is my favorite sporting goods store for inline skates, they have the best selection in chicago. the staff know what they are selling and don't just hand you a pair of skates and let you loose, they will help you get the right skates for your application. the store also carries a full line of sports clothing. prices are a little high but you're paying for the extra service and the wide selection they stock, which is worth it to me. parking on dearborn is nearly impossible, i recommend you take public transportation.
PROS: best selection of inline skates
i've purchased quite a few cd's at this store over the years and always manage to find something when visiting. they have a huge selection of cutout (clearance) tapes and cd's along with a good sized selection of DVD's and laserdiscs (yes, laserdiscs) their music is divided up into 'popular mainstream' music and 'indie' music, something i have never seen another store do. they also have a big poster and t-shirt room in the back worth checking out. parking on lincoln is extremely difficult, i recommend public transportation.
PROS: good music playing in store, cheap cd's
CONS: no parking, a lot of garbage music to weed through
located at six corners (milwaukee irving and cicero) this shop has a decent selection of cigars, although not too many of the inexpensive cigars you find at other cigar shops. they carry a full line of humidors and even have a large walk in humidor in the back. there's seating for a few people to sit and smoke and the staff is always friendly. they're open fairly late (10 pm) if you need cigars after work. they also have a pretty big selection of lighters up front. parking is tight but you can usually find a meter within 1-2 blocks of the store.
PROS: good selection
I used to visit this store often and found many great used cd's. if you're looking for rare and indie music this is a good place to shop, they also carry a fair amount of bootlegs. their walls are covered in posters you can buy and there's usually a few bargain bins at the end of the aisles with hidden gems. their prices are average, usually about $8-10 for a used cd. parking at this location isn't too bad, and the staff are all cool people.
PROS: awesome selection of indie music
CONS: prices on used cd's a little high recently
I received a gift card for this nail shop and had a complete manicure done which exceeded my expectations. The exterior of the shop is very nice, this is not your ugly neon sign in the window shop, it has a very refined upscale appearance. Prices are competitive with other nail shops, and they offer a full line of services although I only had my nails done. When I visited the shop was rather quiet, I don't know if it's always like that but it was very relaxing. There is meter parking in the area which can be difficult so I suggest taking public transportation if possible. I would go again if I feel like treating myself, the staff was extremely friendly.
PROS: elegant shop, friendly staff
CONS: no parking
if you are looking for older and rare indie cd's and vinyl this is the place to go. their staff has been friendly to me and I have found many great used cd's here I never even knew existed. Their selection is huge and is changing constantly since they buy and sell a huge amount of used cd's. they carry everything from punk to classical to metal (huge metal selection) and rap. They are open pretty late most nights and their prices average $8-11 for used cd's. Parking on milwaukee is difficult so take public transportation.
PROS: awesome selection, good prices
CONS: no parking
