West Portal Bakery
This bakery is owned by a young couple that are really nice with their customers. They are always smiling when you ennter and help you to the best of their ability. They offer a wide variety of pastries, cakes, fresh breads, and sandwiches. My favorite there is the olive bread. Its always fresh and the prices are pretty reasonable. They make all the breads in the back kitchen, so you can never go wrong. Its a nice family bakery.
West Portal Floral Co
Laurie has owned this flower shop for over 25 years. Even though she is a very nice person, her flower rates are very expensive. I like the flower arrangements that she has displayed, but the prices are ridiculous. I wanted to use her for a wedding because she has some very nice designs, but she was very overpriced. If you have a flower emergncy and you are in the area, the flowers are pretty fresh, but you will pay extra for them.
West Portal Health & Nutrition Center
Right when you eneter the West Portal Health and Nutrition Cenetr you are warmly greeted by the ladt near the counter area. She quickly asked me if she could help me. She was very patient with me and answered all of my questions. I liked her attitude because she seemed very honest about the products. I was very comfortable in the center.
West Portal Books
I was not impressed when I entered the bookstore on West Portal right across the street from the Empire Cinema. I had heard alot of good things about this bookstore. The lady behind the counter barely looked up at me wen I entered the store. The store inside had a very distinct smell, the smell of old and dingy wood. Everything was very cluttered. I could not find any themes or neatness to the store. And the used books were in poor condition yet really overpriced.
White Rose Boutique
I was strolling along West Portal Avenue the other day and I saw a cute "jeans suit" hanging in the window of the white Rose Botique. When I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the lady behind the counter. It was a cute little place, very inviting. They have a small seklection of semi formal clothing, designer jeans, a few formal dresses, and jewerly. I did like the siut that was hanging in the window, but the total would have been almost 900 hundred dollars for designer jeans, matching jacket, and T shirt. I just thought it was too expensive.
Fantastico
I needed a certain color ribbon that I just could not find. It seemed like I searched the entire city and got nowhere. the ady behind the counter at Fantastico lead me to the "ribbon section". It took about 45 minutes, but she managed to match the color of my ribbon. She was really sweet and friendly. Great customer service skills. I return there for any party and favor needs.
Ondine
I went to a wedding hosted at Ondine in Sausalito. The room had huge bay windows that overlooked the water and teh beautiful city. It was amazing. The servers were very attentive and friendly. Everything was done in a timely manner. It seemed like they really knew how to run things smoothly. And the food was delicious. We had fresh ceaser salad with a yummy steak dinner, and strawberry cheescake. It did not taste like banquet. If I was not so full, I would have asked for seconds on everything!! It was a fabtastic experience and I would recommend Ondine for any occasion. Parking can be a little hard so its easier to use their valet service.
The Cliff House
I looked at the banquet hall at the Cliffhouse for a wedding recption. While the room was in good shape beacsue they just finsihed remoedling, I was not impressed. It looked like an ordinary room that needs to be decorated. And their prices were too high for what they had to offer. I would rather go to a nice hotel than use this baquet for a wedding reception. I do not think that its worth the price.
Nob Hill Restaurant
I really really wanted to have my wedding reception in the ballroom at the Mark Hopkins. It is a beautiful room with a breathtaking view of San Francisco. And the menu that they offered was absolutely wonderful. The prices are higher than other neighboring hotels especially if you want a sit down dinner, open bar, and a wdding ona Saturday. I had a scheduling difficulty which is why the wedding did not happen here. But maybe an anniversary party later on.
Carnelian Room
I was not impressed with the Carneliam Room at all. Yes it is up on the Fifty second floor overlooking San Francisco, but that was as good as it was going to get. The room was not fit to host a party with a dance floor. And while the shape of teh room was interesting, if you wanted to do a sit down dinner, many of the guests could not see each other or the bride and groom. And it was really old inside. And I do not mean old like rustic and cute, but old like dingy and run down. And the prices were a little high for the quality. I just was not impressed.
