Jakes is a good college bar to go to for a nice selection of food for lunch. Prices are reasonable too. Just don't plan to be in & out of there in less than an hour as the service is very much on the slow side even when they're not busy. The place is very large, and the fact that it is "L-shaped" lets the place be split into a smoking & non-smoking area during the day. All ages are allowed before 9pm, and 1/2 the place is non smoking before 9pm as well. The place is jam-packed on weekend evenings and extremely smoky and loud. Don't expect a table if you get there after 8 or 9, don't expect to be able to move after 11.
PROS: Typical college bar
CONS: Over crowded & smokey on weekend evenings
Nice sized Chinese buffet. A great place to eat to satisify that Chinese food craving with plenty of seating so there's typically no wait. They also offer take-out containers so you can what you want home with you if you prefer or don't have the time to dine in.
China Dragon's menu and prices are typical of most Chinese restraunts. They do have lunch specials for around $6 that includes an entree, rice & a roll. Delivery is a little on the slow side, so I usually call ahead & pick it up. They also have a minimum order amount for delivery so you'd need to order quite a lot for one person to meet that requirement. Portions are about enough for two meals.
Mad Mushroom is a pizza place that caters to the empty walleted college student. If you buy not expecting the best pizza you've ever eaten you won't be disappointed. It is however a good value for the money. I highly recommend the cheese sticks after a long night out on the town. When you call be sure to ask for specials to get the best deal. They often don't offer them right up front, and even if you order something that's the daily special you might not get the lower price if you don't ask for it.
PROS: Dirt cheap, deliver for free.
Mikes has both an automatic wash and "do-it-yourself" bays. I consider Mike's Express Car Wash one of the best automatic car washes around. The automatic wash uses soft cloth brushes, REALLY HOTwater, and several different types of soap to clean your car. The fact that you can always count on your car getting a nice hot bath is what I think really sets this place apart from others, warm or cold water at other washes just doesn't always cut through the dirt and grime. Plus, if you're not satisfied they'll wash it again for free. The prices are a bit expensive - washes range from $7-13, but you can pre-pay for a book for several washes to save a few bucks. Stock up on car washes for the whole year in June buy buying books during their annual father's day sale to get the price down to about $4.50 per wash.
PROS: Guaranteed clean car. Well dress professional attendants.
CONS: Price is high if you don't prepay for several washes.
