Recently had an appointment with Dr. Balwinder - and I can NOT recommend him to anyon else. It was the worse experience I have ever had a physician's office. He was rude (in my opinion) and can not speak good English at all! I was not impressed by his bed side manners or by his diagnostic skills. And a FINAL insult to injury. He does NOT take insurance! You have to pay up frint and submit to your own carrier! What an experience.
The Body Haven is a local spa that is a great place to escape from things. The spa has only been open for a couple of years but is well established and has a good customer base. They offer a full array of spa services but are most FAMOUS for their Chocolate face mask and body wrap - and yes - it really is chocolate! I have not tried it but I have heard good things about it. I can definitely recommend the masseur Serge who works there. He is excellent. They also have a Roman spa - a hotpool followed by a (brrr) cold pool. A very nice place to indulge oneself!
If you have a bird as a pet, then Heavens Feathered Treasures is the pe store for you. The owner, Sheila, is a retired vet! She told us that she retired after only ten years ago because she became allergic to cats - so she opened a pet shop which specializes in our feathered friends. My sister's parrot had a problem with itching and losing feathers so we took him to this shop. Sheila diagnosed that it was mites, gave us a cream for it, and he has never been better. The merchandise is a little pricey - but the free advice makes up for it!
The name is quite funny! But Hubcap Annie is anything but. We lost a hubcap for our 1986 Honda Civic and could not get one through our local Honda dealership at a REASONABLE proce. A friend recommended that we check out Hub Cap Annie in South Raleigh - which we did. We rode over and checked them out. This place is NO FRILLS but the owner - Leroy - was very helpful. The hubcap was $150 - almost a 1/10 of what the dealership wanted! We were very happy. The ONLY concern is that it is NOT located in a very nice part of town. So be careful in where you park as your hubcaps may be stolen!
Hunter Tree and Landscape is a great company and offers good services at an affordable price. We contracted with them to do some work for our company. The foreman was very professional in providing us with an estimate. Services fell slightly below the estimate - which was a good thing. My only frustration was that the crew did not speak English and it was hard to communicate with them when the crew had gone. But the work was extremely high calibre and we would definitely use them again.
PROS: Came in under bid
We hired Matt Young Painting to redo a fence that had been previous done by a terrible paitner. He came out to look at the job and laughed at the workmanship. He also said it was a shme that there were such people out there calling themselves painters. He did a GREAT job for us and in the end cut $400 off of our bill, because he felt sorry for us and the way that we had been treated. Since using he him - we have referred him to two other friends who have been very happy with the quality of his workmanship.
You would think that the term painter would mean "one who paints or knows how to paint." Teddy's Painting Service does NOT fit that mold. We hired Teddy to paint a fence for us. He was THREE days late and did a VERY shoddy job. It was so bad that we had to get another painter to come out and redo the project. The funniest part of the whole situation is that Teddy thought he did a good job and felt that he should be paid the full amount! Consider yourself warned if you use this service!
If you are looking for a good landscaper - then you have found one in Tom Asla Hunter. He has been in business for years and done a majority of the yards in my neighborhood. He is good at what he does and is REASONABLY priced. The only drawback is that he is busy and by being this way - it sometimes does take him time to complete or finish a project - but with all of that said and done - Hunter ill complete the job and you will be very happy.
We recently were in the awkward position of having to use a veternarian after hours for a a sick puppy. Since our regular clinic was closed, we took our 'grandpuppy' to the Six Forks Animal Hospital which is open 24 hours per day. We found the place to be very helpful. I must admit though that I thought I was going to have a heart attack when received the bill. It was exorbidantly over -priced - but at 3:00 in the morning, what is someone to do?
Until the need arose to have a family member transferred from a hospital to home 45 minutes away, I never thought about 'renting' an ambulance. This service was significantly cheaper than renting a traditional one. The staff was was obviouly well trained and very empathetic to our needs. They also did not require minoey up front. They simply billed us and allowed us time until the insurance checked arrived. I would definitely use them again.
