Lush Cosmetics
This place has huge blocks of homemade soap in the windows which look and smell fantastic. Their items are a bit on the pricey side, but they are things not everyone in all stores has. The parking here is challenging, so take the Armitage bus if possible. The sales associates are helpful, but can be a bit snobbish.
Tilden Achievement Academy
This is a chicago public school that is a bit on the rough side. The students do get into fights often, and there is a uniform policy. Since it is a career academy, the focus is on learning a trade and working out of high school, rather than continuing on to college. This works great for some kids, and not for others!
McShanes Exchange A Womans Consignment Shop
This place has a whole floor of just designer clothing and shoes on the first floor. The prices are a bit high, but I guess significantly cheaper than if you bought straight from Prada and the like. I just have a hard time rationalizing buying used shoes for $100! Upstairs, they have more reasonably priced items, including maternity!
Segovia Salon Intl
This place does a wonderful job cutting hair. The place uses Aveda products, so you know the entire store smells fantastic. They also brew the Aveda comfort tea every day, so you can sip on that while you get your hair cut. Their prices are a bit more expensive than I like to pay, but they do give a fantastic head massage before they begin which is worth twice the amount of the haircut!!!
Second Child
This place has amazing clothes, and at affordable prices. They have clothing for children of all ages (birth and up), costumes, buggies, carriers, accessories, and more! The sales people are very nice, and it is easy to get to via the Armitage bus. Parking is a bit difficult in this area of town.
Big Hair
This place is awesome! They only give the best haircuts I've ever seen. Lots of my friends go here, they have drastically different looking hair and they all look fantastic! Parking is not too terrible in this area, but there is always the Damen bus that will take you within steps of their front door!
Lincoln Park Zoo
This zoo is so much fun to spend a few minutes at, or hours! The farm is so much fun for children and adults. You can watch the cows being milked, the children can actually feed the cows, and there is a barn with interactive material for all! The rest of the zoo is really nice, and they recently got a new ape house and children's zoo.
Mozart Park
Chicago has several parks throughout the city. Some have playgrounds, pools, basketball courts, workout facilities, dog parks, and an assortment of sporting equipment. Some of the parks have amazing buildings that you can rent out for weddings and parties. Their prices are really affordable, but you have to choose from their list of vendors.
Vive La Femme
Yes, bigger women need to feel sexy and be loved too! This place has everything a smaller-sized women's store would have, but in a bigger size. The entire store is completely for bigger women, so the need for us women to compete has been eliminated from the equation. A great store if you are a bigger woman and want to feel sexy!
G Boutique
This place is NOT g-rated...it is R rated. And, you have to be 18 to enter! There are really pretty, sexy, racey, slutty, and sexual outfits here. They have maternity things as well! They also have women's pleasure items...in many colors and speeds. This place is a definite stop when in Bucktown. Parking can be tough, but you can find it if you're willing to drive for a bit.
