Many people dont realize that this salon school offers *cheap* haircuts/stylings for customers. Although a student in training will be cutting your hair, rest assured that a professional instructor will be providing close supervision the entire time. You get a quality salon experience and perhaps even more personal attention than you otherwise would at a regular salon. Its great for guys or girls. Give it a try, youll come out feeling pampered.
PROS: Cheap salon quality haircuts.
CONS: If you're in a hurry go elsewhere - they take their time here.
This place is heaven for gourmets and casual cooks alike. They carry everything and anything you might need for your kitchen and the prices are very competitive. Whether youre looking for a hard to find kitchen gadget or a set of pots and pans, this is a great place to go. The salespeople are also extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Great News also has a state-of-the-art cooking school (back of the store) where you can sign up for classes and learn to cook like a pro. I have not found another kitchen store like this place.
PROS: Incredible selection, great prices.
CONS: None really.
The repairmen at this shop are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I had a broken Dirt Devil vacuum that they were able to fix no problem in no time. The prices are also very reasonable, which can make it more economical to fix up your beater rather than buy a new vacuum. If I ever need a vacuum repaired again I will be back! They also sell new vacuums many of which are top of the line professional models you wont see in mass retailers like Wal-Mart. They also cost a bundle ($300+). But you also probably wouldnt ever need to repair one of them you get what you pay for.
PROS: Skilled and friendly repair technicians. Pro vacuums make you drool.
CONS: Prices on pro vacuums can make you cry.
A guy named Bob actually does run this store and hes very knowledgeable and willing to assist you in answering any questions you might have about surfing or the products he carries. The only bad thing is that this store is very small so they are limited in the amount and variety of merchandise they stock. Although they do cover the standard items well and occasionally have a used surfboard or two for sale. This is also one of the more inexpensive places to rent a surfboard and/or wetsuit from and is located just a 1 block walk to the water.
PROS: Great personal service from Bob himself. Great place to rent equipment.
CONS: Small store, limited selection of merchandise.
This is a cheap way to get to and from the airport. The only bad thing is that it can take a really long time - since its a shared ride service (the vans pick up and drop off other passengers besides you) your trip could take a long time if there are a lot of other passengers. Also, if you dont make a reservation for the ride home youll usually end up sitting at the airport for a long time waiting for a shuttle. Tip: if this happens, gather up some other travelers and share a cab with them instead.
CONS: Can take a long time since you share the ride with others.
This is a great apartment complex that is on the rise. There is lots of covered parking for everyone, the rent is reasonable, maintenance keeps the place clean, there is a pool and small fitness facility, and the staff are super nice. They even throw parties a few times a year for the residents and give away great prizes like free rent. Its not luxury accommodations but the units are well kept, clean, and in good condition. Highly recommended for this area.
PROS: Friendly staff, feels like home.
CONS: Watch out for units facing the street - they can be noisy.
This place services some higher-end luxury vehicles so you would think they are good (the day I went a Lamborghini that had extensive bodywork done was parked out front). The customer service associates are very communicative and attentive to the customers needs. Most importantly, the quality of the bodywork is pretty good. They did a good job colormatching a tough paint color on my vehicle. Overall if youre lucky enough to have an insurance company paying the tab this is probably one of the better shops to go to, although if youre paying your own way I bet they charge a pretty penny.
This place is big, stocks a huge selection of camera and video equipment, and is chock full of knowledgeable salespeople. Its a professionals playground which is why so many of them come to shop here. However, the everyday consumer (like myself) can also find a wealth of knowledge and the products that they want to buy here. If you do purchase here this place is honest and straightforward unlike the small camera shops on the streets of New York that prey on unknowing consumers and tourists.
PROS: Large store, huge selection, informed salespeople.
CONS: Pricing is good but not always the best.
This repair shop isnt much to look at but my experience with them was good. They were honest, didnt misdiagnose anything on my aging vehicle, and didnt tell me that anything had to be replaced that didnt. They work on a lot of vehicles, you can tell from the parking lot full of them. They must be very experienced and customers must trust them to be going there.
PROS: Honest, reasonable prices.
CONS: Not much to look at, but they get the job done.
This repair shop couldnt figure out that my oil pan was leaking around the gasket. So instead they pretended that someone had installed the oil filter incorrectly, then charged me to change my oil and steam clean the underside of my car. What a waste of money! Who the heck needs the underside of their car cleaned? Nobody! I had to go to a reputable repair shop to get the leak fixed right. Avoid this repair shop, there are plenty of alternatives around. They are dishonest and incompetent, a dangerous combination for you the consumer.
CONS: Dishonest, unknowledgeable, will con you if they can.
