There are lots of attractions that kids of all ages would like (go karts, ferris wheel, batting cage, mini golf). But for adults its really not that much fun, especially with a bunch of kids running around. Also, the place is staffed by high school students that could care less. Its also a zoo on weekends - long lines, mass mayhem, kids crying. If you can go during the week or on a weeknight there are often unlimited ride specials to take advantage of, and youll have the whole place to yourself.
PROS: Fun for kids, uncrowded on weekdays/weeknights.
CONS: Nightmare on weekends.
Even if youre not Jewish, there are fitness facilities and programs that draw people to this, the local JCC. However, the facilities leave a bit to be desired. There is an indoor gymnasium but it feels cramped. The locker rooms and the outdoor pool seem dirty and dont seem well-kept. The crown jewel is definitely the workout room, which sports plenty of modern equipment. However, it gets crowded during peak hours.
PROS: Could be your next health club.
CONS: Not the greatest facilities.
The worst thing about this course is that it is not a loop after 9 holes you are left in the middle of nowhere, at which point most people walk on the street through the neighborhood to get back to the parking lot. Otherwise its an unremarkable short 9 hole par 3 course. Perhaps good for beginners but very little entertainment value for more experienced golfers.
PROS: Cheap beginner golf course.
CONS: Look forward to a long walk after your round.
This is a valet dry cleaner meaning that that they pick up/drop off from locations around town (like your office or apartment). Prices are more expensive than your local cleaner (the price you pay for convenience). Seems to be a small growing company suffered through several billing mistakes before I stopped using them altogether. Quality of cleaning was also questionable.
PROS: Convenient free pick-up/drop for certain locations.
CONS: Billing mistakes, questionable quality of cleaning.
This gym is in the basement of an office building so passers by would never know it was there. This helps to keep it a secret which is probably why its almost always uncrowded. Although many people come for the lunchtime and early evening fitness classes which include spin and Gravity. Workout equipment is very new and includes all the standard items including an extensive free-weight collection. Good if you work/live nearby or are looking for a relatively uncrowded gym.
PROS: New equipment, new-looking facility, clean.
CONS: No pool, hidden in the basement of an office building.
Group classes are very structured and great for first-time surfers. Clientele and instructors are almost all female. Surf school site: La Jolla Shores, is a great beginner surfing spot. If you are male you might feel slightly out of place as the group classes are definitely girl-power. However they do offer private lessons too. Plenty of Surf Diva merchandise to buy after you take your class.
PROS: Perhaps the best place to get surfing lessons if you are female.
CONS: Guys might feel out of place.
The cleanings here are OK although it doesn't seem like they put all that much effort into it. They play movies in the waiting area to keep you entertained perhaps an indication of how long the wait can be. And yes the wait can be quite long at times even if you have an appointment. The service from reception and admin staff is appallingly slow at times. The facility itself is modern, clean, and attractive.
PROS: Clean, attractive facility. Watch a movie while you wait.
CONS: Hopefully you won't end up seeing the entire movie waiting.
This place specializes in trucks not passenger cars. So they will have a much better selection of Toyota trucks than cars. You will get the best prices if you go through one of their Internet salespeople. You get the feeling that they really value their customers at this dealership. All new car buyers are given a certificate for a free oil change and invited back for a free dinner and new car owners seminar. I bought a car here and theres no other place I would have rather purchased it.
PROS: Huge selection of Toyota trucks. Decent selection of cars.
CONS: Located in El Cajon (might be far for some).
This place is big and houses doctors/clinics from practically every specialty. Plus there is a hospital next door. What this means for you as the patient is that you can have xrays, MRIs, lab worketc. all done in one place rather than having to drive around town visiting different providers. I use the dermatology group here and they are particularly good compared to others in town. It can be tough for new patients to get appointments in a timely manner so see if your current doctor can provide a referral. To park for free look for the limited street parking across the street.
PROS: Everything under one roof.
CONS: Must pay for parking - and they don't validate.
Authentic Mexican food in a fast casual atmosphere is what youll get here. Order at the counter and find your own seating, Lalos is a great change of pace from the local fast food Mexican chain like La Salsa or Rubios. Soup bowls or traditional favorites like chilaquiles are among the specialties you wont find elsewhere except at a sit-down restaurant. There is also a zesty small salsa bar with freshly made salsa, sauted onions, and peppers (watch out for the heat real Mexican food doesnt come in mild). The food here is great if you want a real taste of Mexico. It's also no hole in the wall - it's clean and relatively spacious.
PROS: Cheap, fast, authentic Mexican food.
CONS: Salsa bar might be too spicy for some.
