Avalon International Breads

Avalon is a small bakery & cafe that specializes in vegetarian food. The cookies, breads and sandwiches are mouth watering. They are made with 100% all natural products right there on site. The prices are reasonable and there is a small area where you can eat inside or out. Avalon is a community minded business and it makes sure that it gives back to its community.

Glass House Barber & Nail Sln

This salon is the kind of place you go to get a nice hair cut regardless of whether you are a man or woman. The atmosphere is laid back and the conversation is easy.
The prices are extremely reasonable. This is the type of place you can take your kids or your elderly father to and feel pretty secure. They even do Press & Curls, Perms etc.

PROS: Adequate Parking.
CONS: I hate those front steps. If you have knee problems take your time.

National Kidney Foundation of Michigan

The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan is a non-profit organization whose primary goal is to make people aware of kidney disease and the conditions that promote or cause kidney disease. They have excellent programs that do just that. They have Community Representatives who speak at different community functions making people aware of the Kidney Foundation's existence and how best to guard against kidney disease.

PROS:
CONS: Not as widely promoted as breast cancer or heart disease.

Fifth Avenue

Fifth Ave is the name of the lounge that is located inside Comerica Park. Fifth Avenue caters to a more mature and upscale crowd. There is a cover charge to get into the lounge and it is open even when there are no games at the park. There is limited dancing and the ball game can be seen from the lounge.

Boogie Fever Cafe & Disco

Boogie Fever has a large dance floor where you can really get your boogie on. As the name might suggest, the music is from the top hits of the 70's and 80's. This club draws a more mature, upwardly mobile middle class crowd. The food is reasonable and the staff is friendly.

PROS:
CONS: They rely too much on nostalgia. Just play the music!

Kiddie Kandids

Kiddie Kandids is located in Babies R Us. I had some pictures of my 2 month old son taken there. They accept walk ins and the pictures were ready about 20 minutes after taking them. When I was finished shopping I was able to walk out of the store with my son's pictures. They do excellent work.! The photographer was friendly, patient and skilled in working with babies, so she was able to get some beautiful pictures in spite of my son's fussiness.

PROS: Inside Babies R Us so you can shop while waiting for your pictures.
CONS:

Metro Time

The Metro Times is for those who are a little more liberal minded and young at heart. The articles are on the controversal and sexual side. This is definitely not a newspaper that you would let anyone read. If you are into an alternative lifestyle and don't care what people think, then this is the newspaper for you. You can advertise just about anything in this paper.

PROS: Very inexpensive paper.
CONS: A weekly paper and cannot be easily found everywhere.

Armando's Mexican Cuisine

I have always enjoyed eating at Armandos. The food is very good and very plentiful. You have a wide variety of food to choose from including American Cuisine. I especially like to have a cocktail with my meal and the marguritias are huge and delicious. I eat at Armandos at least once a month. The carry out service is good and they are open late.

PROS: Adequate parking.
CONS:

Joe Banquets & Catering

I have been to the Joe Louis Arena twice and I told myself that I would not go there again. Just to get into the arena requires a lesson in mountain climbing. The steps are entirely too narrow. The concert I was there to see did not have the best sound system or acoustics. I don't entirely blame the arena for that , I blame the concert sponsers. It seemed like it was a matter of greed, (to get as many people to see these entertainers regardless of the quality of the music). Tth prices of the tickets were also too expensive.

PROS:
CONS: The steps are too narrow

Henry Ford Hospital

Henry Ford Hospital excels in the treatment of kidney disease and the conditions that lead to kidney disease. They have the latest equipment and facilities for the diagnosis and treatment of kidney disease. They have a new dialysis unit that is less than 10 years old. on the main campus. People from all the country come to this hospital for their kidney transplant. They have a caring staff whose main concern is in helping you cope with your disease.
