Elements offers classes in bookmaking, stone and woodcarving allong with a few other offerings. They usually have local art on display and for sale and have a large selection for all ranges of artcraft. they also have a book binding section with, papers and binding supplies. Their prices are competitive and the staff is friendly and helpful.
They get the job done, is the best description. The pharmacisits in charge are at best curt and at worst downright rude and unhelpful. The rest of the pharmacy, techs and aides are courteous and usually quite helpful which can make up for their boss' demanors.
CVS usually has weekly deals being a national chain.
My first problem with PetLand is that they keep their animals in conditions that stress them out and lead to sick animals. Their dogs are kept in cramped wire bottom cages, the small animals and birds are open to the public to be handled by any passerby whether they like it or not, and their fish are mostly diseased the times I've been there. I am disturbed by some of their fish keeping methods, which lead to the diseases in the fishstock there.
They have an okay selection of foods, for dogs, cats birds and small pets, they also carry accessories, but not the largest selection in athens. The staff must usually be hunted down for help and were not knowledgeable when I did find them.
The AAHS is small but they care very carefully for their cats. They don't take dogs, but they will take in and adopt out cats, rabbits and other small animals. They have adoption counselors and their adoption fee is reasonable, because it includes so many extras, vaccinations, spaying/neutering microchipping etc.
Volunteers can come in and socialize with the cats, using sanitizer between cats. Any further volunteering requires a volunteer orientation.
All equine is a bit of a drive out for me but well worth it for the selection of products both serious and fun. The staff is very helpful and there are lots of sales and discounts. They also have online shopping!
But visits to the store are lots of fun because there is such a great selction of both english and western gear. They have alot more horse goodies than Saddle Rack when it comes to grooming and horse pampering! They have good used saddles(I bought mine from them), but you have to see the exquisite new western saddles upstairs.
Copper creek brews it's own beers and while I'm not a great fan of beer, my boyfriend and his friends are big fans of the wide variety and good quality of the beers.
I like it for the dollar shots during the happy hours. They have an extensive shot list.
We did have a cranky bartender once who routinely overcharged us, but that was the only bad time we've had there.
Thier sub bread is so good. Their meats are good, and their veggies are always super fresh!
Their service is always good, and they have a large selection of different sandwiches, at good prices. They also have all sorts of neat signs on the wals to entertain you while you eat.
I have not been dissapointed by their food!
Transmet has design your own pasta and I love their alfredo. Their pizza is a favorite of many friends, and is really easily suited to anyones tastes. Their full bar is quite poular with the red and black staff. They are a restaurant to add to the list of athens must tries.
Athens proper doesn't have and petco or petsmart, pet supplies plus is the first "large" pet store and I like it. It's convenient and doesn't sell puppies. Its small animals and birds are relatively well cared for, compared to petland. There is a large selection in all pet categories and I haven't found that the prices of their products are high. In fact, the prices for my bird's foods are cheaper than at the other petstore that carries it.
They offer on the spot tag engraving and kittens are available daily for adoption.
I have not found that the layout is confusing.
The Saddle Rack has western and english riding/casual apparel for women, and a wide array of boots for both sexes. They carry some tack, including a few saddles, saddle pads and odds and ends. They carry a small selection of jewelry, Breyer horses and little horsey knick-knacks also.
Prices are good, but not exceptional.
