Rip Curl
RIP CURL is flat out the best surf equipment shop! Rip Curl's wetsuit is out of this world. Highly recommend the Ultimate series surfing wetsuit, specifically, the Elasto! Once you try it on, you will not want to try another brand of wetsuit. forget Oneill or billabong, their wetsuits technology is nothing compared to Rip Curl. And during summer, Rip Curl usually has sales, preview year's models are highly discounted, you can get a superior quality wetsuit through that summer sale, so do not miss it!
Aqua Surf Shop
had a good experience from this surf shop. i am a beginner level surfer so i need some pointers, i go in there and ask to try on some wetsuits. the clerk is very nice and shows me several selections and explains the beneficial features of each models. breaking down different brands and the benefits of different models really help me understand which wetsuit to choose. i would highly recommend people visiting this surf shop if they want to get some surf goods.
Goodwin Alan H Dds
he's my first dentist in the bay area, granted that i do not have a benmark or a comparison to compare, but i do not feel he is a good dentist. he is a good dentist, but he does not make you feel welcomed in some ways, one time i just finished my check-up, a patient of his suddenly changed schedule on him, wanting to fill that empty spot, he asked me if i wanted to do my filling right now? i thought that was somewhat disrespectful of him, especially he had that 'what da heck, i will just ask, maybe i will get lucky' sorta facial expression.
Putnam Volvo
my parents bought their van from Putnam Mazda, they had bumper to bumper warranty. the stereo broke, they pulled the van back to the dealer for fix, the dealer said stereo was not included in the warranty so they charged my parents $200. a few weeks later, the stereo broke again, the stereo light does not turn on when you turn on the headlights, so you cannot see time/radio station information.
when buying the car, we had a used volvo, it was in good shape, the dealer offered $300 for it. unbelievable....do not go there any buy car.
PROS:
CONS: worst of all car salesmen
Stevens Creek Acura
my car was bought there, i needed the radio code because i did not have my car manual, they claimed that they could not verify my car was from their lot, so they refused to give me the code. i called back the next day, they said my car was 'traded' to their lot, and because they did not perform a thorough inspection, they do not have the radio code, BUT they can get me the code if i am willing to pay them $60, that is including a courteousy discount.
note: radio code should be provided by the dealer at no cost.
PROS: nothing
CONS: just bad
Nuts For Candy
if you love candies or you have a thing for sweets, this is a shop for you. Nuts For Candy has fabulous sweets, definitely try their chocolate items, once you try one, they are so irresistable! Sweets from Nuts For Candy make great gift for your love ones or even a random surprise! if you are looking for a good candy shop in the peninsula, look no further, Nuts For Candy is a must visit.
PROS: delicious sweets
CONS:
Mike Harvey Acura
Went there to get my radio code, the service representative was rude. He did not bother to greet me because I was not paying for a service. He took my key and drove my car into the garage and did not provide much information, for a minute I was afraid that they would damage my car!
The following week my friend was there to buy a car, they serve you like you're a king, it's ridiculous! I would not trust their service, do not go there!
PROS:
CONS: bad service
Ramen House Ryowa
Ryowa only provides miso soup-based ramen. The flavor of the soup may be strong and too salty for light-flavor eaters. The distinctive character of Ryowa is that they provide free all-you-can-eat kimichi. There is also bookshelves full of comic books available for reads too. If it is your first time, I would recommend the Ryowa Original, which is basically miso with sesame seeds flavor noodle soup, and it goes well with the over-the-counter kimichi garnish.
PROS: all u can eat kimichi
CONS: not a lot of variety
168 Restaurant
pretty good food for pretty good price. definitely one of the college students' favorite. I highly recommend their fried chicken over rice, which consisted of a piece of garlic flavored fried chicken, stewed egg, stir-fried vege and some garnish, all over rice, and it's under $5! If you like tapioca, it's buy one get one free, beats the across tapioca shop by far. If you have a gathering, look for their fixed menu set, if you ask nicely, they may allow you to change the dish (if the price does not differ too much).
PROS: good eats for little money
CONS:
Suruki Supermarket
it's the only well-known japanese supermarket in the peninsula. It imports a lot of the popular japanese grocery items and it also sells sashimi and sushi. Be careful, some of their products are expired goods; usually, they would put out a sign, but last time I bought some seafood salad and it was expired.
Everyday, 30 min before their closing time, they have sushi, sashimi and lunchset for 50% off. People actually get very physical for this event, so come early and wear football gear if you have one.
PROS: variety of japanese goods
CONS: pricey and expired items
