Maid of the Mist has been around for the longest time offering up close visits with the thundering Niagara Falls. You don a poncho and board a 2 story boat and go on a very unique tour. They take you so close to the falls that it feels like it is raining all around you and you get wet. If you are going to the Falls, do yourself a favor and don't miss this trip.
Mazza vineyards is decorated and built to resemble an Italian villa with yellow stonework and curved archways. In this aspect, it is one of the nicer wineries in the area. Their tasting room is also nice and they offer crackers for between tastings. Some of their wines are nice, but nothingn that stuck out in my mind. Like some other wineries, they do offer discounts by quantity.
Their Baco Noir is hard to find elsewhere, but it seems to produce a wonderful wine in this location. They offer several award-winning wines from the North East wine region. Their tasting room is large enough for large groups and there is no tasting fee. They keep their wines at proper temperatures and give generous samples. Reasonable prices.
This hair center is a nice local company that offers a good men's cut at a reasonable price. While in the area, I found this place from a reccommendation and was happy to find my new barber. They also offer other services such as hair pieces and treatments. It is convenient to Peach Street and the Millcreek Mall, so it is only a short trip from most places.
The Philadelphia Inquirer is the number one paper for the city sandwhiched between New York and Washington, D.C. This is the best paper in the area to read about national and international news. They also offer a smaller regional coverage section. Since the area is up and coming in biotech, they also offer a bunch of job announcements for this sector.
The Pittsburgh Post Gazette has been around for a long time. When you are in Pittsburgh, you will be bombarded by Steelers news and information and there is really no better place to get in depth knowledge about the team of blue and black. The Post does a good job of covering local and regional news.
Town Motors of Exton offers both new and used cars - Jeep, and Chrysler - and also a service center and customer care. Their used cars are competitively priced and their service has not seemed overly push like other car dealerships. They also offer free rentals and / or oil changes when you purchase a car here.
Presque Isle state park is a big draw for the area since it is far from the ocean, yet situated right on Lake Erie. There are more than a dozen beaches here and many picnic areas to bring dinner and watch a fabulous sunset - rated one of the best in the world by National Geographic. Presque Isle can be used year round, but the beaches and swimming would only want to be used in the summer months.
The Stephen Decatur House Museum is a lovely historic house in DC. I was here recently for a ghost tour around Halloween and though the property was well maintained and restored, the museum itself was rather small and the tour lasted but 25 minutes with only a few stories to speak of. The gift shop was larger than the entranceway and some of the rooms we toured. Nice for a short visit.
The Washington Post is the local and regional go to newspaper for local, national, and international news. They often break big local news stories and have a great online news source and a top notch jobs section for all local employers. They also put out the Express which is a shorter free daily (M - F).
