I had my first experience at Allure last year. I was recommended by a friend who also had curly hair. The stylist I had was amazing! She had curly hair and knew how to cut it and gave me lots of tips on how to style it at home. She also did an amazing job with my highlights. Allure also is a spa (massages, pedicures, etc.) but I have not used that service.
We ONLY use Dependable Sewer. They have been absolutely fantastic. Some of the highlights: 24 hour service, no extra charges for nights or weekends. We have called them at 8:00pm on Sunday night, and they came within an hour! I think the standard sewer drain cleaning is $75 with a 90 day warranty.
I have been going to Drakeview Dental for twenty years, from the age of five. The dentist is very friendly and knows what he's doing. The hygienists are also very skilled. They also seem to have new and better equipment each time I go. I love that I can get a 7:00am appointment and still get to work on time! The prices are reasonable..and they accept BCBS. They also accept new patients!
This is the biggest movie theater in Midland. It has 12 or so theaters, awesome seating (reclines!!), great sound, and decent snack bar. The pricing seems average for the area: $7.50 for adults, and $5.50 for adult matinee. 2 adults, evening movie, drinks and popcorn combo will cost around $23.00. But you get free refills!!!
This is the only discount movie theater in Midland. It shows newer releases, but ones that have left the regular theaters. They have the capacity for 4 movies. The showtimes are limited...usually 1 per movie per night, maybe 2-3 on the weekends. The prices are discounted: $3.75 adult, $2.50 adult matinee, children under 12 $2.50. The theater is old, but it is in a good location for visiting families. It is part of a resort that also includes hotels, camping, bowling, arcades, and putt-putt. Overall, it is an okay place to see a movie.
Dow Gardens is one of my favorite spots in Midland. It is an amazing display of trees and flowers and landscape. I think it is over 100 acres! A GREAT place for taking pictures for prom, weddings, family groups. There is also a fun area for kids to explore and learn. The admission is fairly inexpensive: Adults $5 daily, or $10 annual card. Children 6 and up only $1.00. I try to get there at least a couple times a year...a must for anyone visiting Midland.
We had a good experience buying a used chrysler from this dealer. They are in a good location...right next to Meijer. The thing my husband and I liked the best about the salespeople there was that they didn't pressure us. They let us "buy" not get "sold". They have a good selection of new and used cars, a good maintainence department, and you get free car washes!!!
We used Titus Photography for our wedding photos in 2003. They are a husband/wife team. He takes the photos, while she helps keep everyone organized and smiling. They have such great personalities...we hit it off right away. They were willing to listen and use our ideas. And we got to keep the negatives!!!!! They also do family pics, senior pictures, etc.
The Alden B. Dow Home Studio is one of the most interesting pieces of architecture in Midland. It was Alden B. Dow's personal residence and architectural office. If you like Frank Lloyd Wright designs, you'll love this! Alden B. Dow was one of his apprentices. The admission is average: $10 for adults, $5 for students. I would say it is definitely worth the cost. They give public tours on Friday at 10am and 2pm and Saturday at 10am. The staff is so knowledgable...you get a guided tour with lots of history. I try to go at least once a year!!!
Valley Lanes is a family entertainment center. It features a bowling alley with touchscreen scoring and those neat overhead monitors. They have a fairly large arcade room and an indoor Putt-Putt golf which is really fun. There is even a restaurant called "Gimmicks" which is an american style diner. The prices are average and you'll see people of all ages there. Unfortunately, people are allowed to smoke.
