West Portal Spa

I just moved to the area so I was looking for a new place to become my "regular" mani/pedi spot. I had heard some positive things about West Portal so I booked an appointment to check it out. The pedicure I received was subpar and expensive for what they charged- almost $40. The technician was very rough- I had request that she be more gentle twice and she didn't follow directions/requests very well. Additionally, she was a little bit rude- her general demeanor was terse and behaved as though she had somewhere better to be. The final straw: I got some sort of fungal infection from the pedicure. My skin started to peel off the bottoms of my feet and I had to go see a doctor for treatment. The doctor thinks this developed from their not thoroughly cleaning their spa chairs between uses. I'm considering filing a complaint with the Cosmetology Board. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.
