I really like this spa. It is located in Buckhead, just off of East Andrews. It is nice and quiet and private, and the treatments are fabuluus. I really recommend the reflexology and the mud wrap. You get much more personal service here than if you went to a Spa Sydell, and the prices are good.
PROS: small, private, personalized service
Atlanta Kick specializes in karate, but they also have kickboxing, pilates, and circuit training. Every month they offer a month-long "boot camp" which I have done twice. It is really hard work, but it definitely gets you in shape! What I like about this gym is how personal it is....they know every member by sight/name and they will call you if they haven't seen you in a while to make sure you are doing ok. The staff is all very nice and incredibly supportive. It is a little pricey, but the service you get makes up for it.
PROS: personal service, good results
CONS: limited classes, expensive
La Raine's is located in Virginia-Highlands and is both a regular clothing store and a bridal store. I came very close to buying my wedding gown here. They have a great selection with very reasonable prices (under $1000) and the service is excellent. You get pampered and treated like gold, you are never rushed, they give great advice....overall this is a really top-notch store and it is a must-visit for any bride-to-be!
PROS: excellent service, good prices
This is a really nice boutique located in Midtown that has a great, fairly large selection of unique designer clothes. They have a lot of neat events & sales thoughout the year as well.
PROS: good selection, cute clothes, fun events
CONS: can be pricey
When shopping for my wedding gown, I tried many many stores, and Kelly's Closet stands above any other shop in town. This is some of the best customer service I have EVER recieved....Kelly and her staff treat you like a princess without any of the snootiness you find at a lot of the other bridal stores. Kelly travels the world to find interesting, unique, and beautiful gowns, and she has several designers that no-one else carries. Her, her staff, and the designer of my dress were totally accomodating when I decided I wanted to pretty drastically alter it (changed the neck line and train), and not only did they make it perfectly, it came in early! Janna does a fabulous job with alterations, and I did not one single time have to pull my strapless gown up my entire wedding night....not even after hours of dancing! In addition to bridal wear, the other half of the store has really neat designer clothes that are perfect for that special occasion. Overall, this store gets a huge two thumbs up from me!
PROS: the best service EVER! beautiful, unique gowns
CONS: can be expensive
Park Pet Supply is located in the East Atlanta Village. They carry all of the really top-end pet foods that you cannot buy at the grocery store or Petsmart (Innova, Canidea, Chicken Soup, Wellness, California Natural, etc.) and the prices are good. What is really great about this place is the expertise you recieve from the employees. They really know their stuff with regard to animal nutrition & supplements, which is great. They carry a pretty good selecion of toys, treats, etc. and they will order anything you want that they don't carry. They also have a frequent buyer program, and after 10 visits you get a free pack of treats (your choice which kind, some of them run $15+ per package). They have added some new services recently, like a groomer (and a do-it-yourself dog wash station), and a pet artist (you can have your pooch's face commissioned!). They also help out with dog & cat rescue and always have at least one of each roaming around the store looking for a new home. And, of course, your animals are welcome while you shop!
PROS: very experienced, carry hard-to-find foods
I have been training dogs for a long time, and have been through many different trainers in the Atlanta area, and Kate at Jabula Dogs is by FAR the best. She is young, energetic, and extremely knowledgeable. She makes dog training fun for both the human and the dog. She offers a multitude of classes, events, etc. I personally have taken the Stage 1 and Stage 2 obedience classes, the agility class, and the trick training class, and I loved them all. I was also able to test for and recieve my Canine Good Citizen title with Kate. Her classes are small and laid-back, but they get the job done. She trains using positive techniques and can help with any type of dog, from a puppy to an older rescue with behavioral problems. I cannot recommend her highly enough!
PROS: experienced, fun, affordable, good location
There are at least two locations of Sage, although I like the one across from the Amtrak on Peachtree Road. Sage always has really cute clothing and the selection is always changing, but it can be kinda pricey.
PROS: cute, original designs
This is a really neat little boutique in Sandy Springs. It is partially high-end consignment, partially designer samples, and they always have the cutest stuff! There is all types of clothing, from tank tops to full-length formal dresses, from suits to fur coats. Most of what they carry is designer labels, and it is totally affordable. They also have the BEST selection of (brand new) purses and jewelry.
Just as an example, I have a Bebe shirt from there that was $12, an Arden B top that was $9, and three pairs of awesome shoes (Ralph Lauren, Steve Madden and Nine West) that were $14 each.
I have also sold some stuff to them and made over $100 from clothes I was going to throw away!
They also have fun events, like "Fortune and Fashion" (you get a free 15 minute fortune telling when you spend $20), Mary Kay night (free 15 minute makeover when you spend $20), live music & wine events, etc. Check out the website for upcoming events!
PROS: affordable, cute clothing
