I have a brand new Whirlpool Duet and the dryer was off-balance. So I called Whirlpool, they directed me to a local repair shop that NEVER showed up (this after I had to take a half-day off work to be available during their BROAD window of 12-5 pm!) So they never showed, I called Whirlpool back and asked for another repair shop. They scheduled me with Tom Tech and again gave me a BROAD window of 1-5pm. So I called Tom Tech on my own and explained my situation. He was so understanding and sympathetic to my situation he was able to give me a smaller window (4-6pm) since I told him I could be home at 4pm. He showed up on time and went about his business. He fixed it no problem and quietly went on his way. It's the little things like this that make you keep a repair man on your "preferred" list.
PROS: On time, accomodating, quality work, honest people
Great dentist!!! Mediocre staff - alot of "students" from Concorde University "practicing" on you. I had a girl do my x-rays and she wasn't very gentle so those hard cards they shove in your mouth were cutting my soft tissue in my mouth. Location? YUCK! It's right next to the Dolphin (nude club) and the people loitering at the Plaid Pantry right next door are not people you would want to be near in a dark alley. You would think there was a methadone clinic next door or something. The girl that makes appointment has YET to schedule my cleaning on either one of the LAST TWO appointments I've had but finally they will do it on my THIRD appointment. The dentist is very good and gentle and I suppose that is really the key. Dress down and be very clear to the staff.
PROS: Great dentist
CONS: Mediocre staff, scary people loiteringin the parking lot
3 different nail salons later, I finally have found a great place for Acrylic Solar Nails. I walked in, wated 3 minutes (if that) and the gentleman started on my full set of Solar Nails. He was very friendly and SUPER fast! I was out of there inabout 40 minutes. Since I had the set put on I have received numerous comments about my nails. Even the girl at the bank commented on them (and hers were really nice too!) I highly recommend this place. Prices are average but quality is above average.
PROS: Speedy, affordable, nice
I needed my drycleaning turned around next day for a trip I had. I called T's at 9:00 a.m. and asked when I could get my clothes back, they said the next day! Most cleaners need at least 2 days. They were so nice and so accomodating and they didn't even charge me an "express service" fee. They are a tiny bit higher priced but they put all your sweaters in a plastic bag and neatly stacked in a paper shopping bag.
This place is on 23rd in the Pearl. They have a great selection, some way funky stuff to. Some shoes and aaccessories. Prices are reasonable for the area and quality. My only complaint was the staff. There was this weird quirky older lady and then a younger "goth" kind of girl. Neither one of them "fit" the style of the store and they were so busy talking to each other and singing to the music playing I don't think they even noticed we were there. (And I bought something too!)
They are top-notch in every aspect but of course you will pay for that service and quality. The knew my size before I ever tried any dresses on and the detail and workmanship that goes into these dresses is amazing. Prices range from the mid 4-figures on up! So bring you wallet but you will be SO HAPPY with your dress. These guys are incredible. They are not even stuck up as some upscale bridal boutiques are.
PROS: Styles,quality & service
CONS: Pricey alterations & too far a drive from OC
These guys do such great work, my entire family is going there now. They are very friendly, very reasonable and always find the problem no matter how long it takes. They are a family owned business and treat you as such. I frequently need a ride to work and they are happy to oblige. They are not the cheapest but they do lots of extra little things for you. They would never rip you off either.
PROS: Great service, always presentable & professional
CONS: Not open Saturdays
Hired Gregg to do our wedding. Heard mixed reviews but he did an awesome job. He was easy to reach, easy to work with and willing to go the extra mile. (I had a special song I wasn't sure he had in his library and he did!) I also made a wedding CD as my favor and Gregg was nice enough to put my list of songs on a master CD so I could burn a bunch of copies. That was really helpful. He also RECOMMENDED to book him for a shorter amount of time and add time later because you can add if you need it, but if you contract for 6 hrs and you only use 5, you still pay for 6 hours. Great suggestion. He is in the middle range for prices but again, you get what you pay for. Everybody dance and everybody had a blast. Thanks Gregg!
PROS: Good music, good personality, neat appearance, good times!
CONS: He talks a little fast, sometimes he'll have to repeat stuff
She is an amazing photographer and so sweet. Her staff are also all very nice. While photographing our wedding, we hardly even remembered she was there. She was on time, very professional, and made even the camera-shy feel super cozy in front of the lens. Our pics came out awesome. I interviewed MANY photographer and saw alot of samples. All I can say, is you get what you pay for!
She also requires you to shoot an engagement session so she can get to know her subjects and I highly recommend that part!
CONS: don't have a single one.
Recommended by a relative. Went in for a two-color process & cut on very processed hair to begin with. The owner was my stylist . She did a great job guiding me through my indecisiveness and made some of her own recommendations with which I agreed to. My hair came out great and she gave me some great styling tips. Even dissed some product she sold in her own store and recommended another one she didn't carry. THe interior is lively, upbeat and funky reds and yellows. There is also art on the walls that is also for sale.
Prices are set up front so no guessing.
