This is one of the neatest things you can see in downtown Spokane. Walk by on 2nd, past the car wash, and look in the window. You will be amazed. From classic roadsters, to tiny pedal powered cars, this is a collectors dream. Ive seen many cars that made me drool, at prices that made me kick myself for that last christmas spending spree. Many times the hoods are open, and the engines sparkle. Ive never been a car nut, but this display turns my head every time Im downtown! I have to admit Ive never been inside, as I am usually downtown late and they are closed by then.
PROS: very neat!
CONS: need to be open 24 hours :)
I was amazed this nice little theater hadnt made it to your listings yet! The Garland theater is located in the heart of the historical garland district. (great area feature- free parking!) It plays many new release shows as well as replaying many old favorites. The weekend they played the Rocky Horror Picture Show, the line went all the way down the block! Thier shows are usually $2.50 per seat! Being in this one screen theater, in this historical area, makes you feel nostalgic. Anyone can afford to go. Can you afford to miss this?
PROS: beautifull, historical, cheap seats, FUN!
CONS: sometimes it's too popular and gets crowded
I had some cards I was trying to help a friend sell, and I went to 3 other places in town to get prices. They offered me the best price, and were very friendly. I do wish they had a larger variety of things in the store. Also, they are located in a busy section of town traffic-wise. It can be a bit rough pulling in and out of the store parking area.
PROS: fair prices!
CONS: bad traffic area
This store is the icon bookstore for the Spokane area. The selection of books is huge, rivalling the national chain bookstores. The atmosphere is laid back, with a deli/coffee shop in the building. They also exchange used books. Thier prices are average.. no dime sections here! One of the features that makes this store unique is the speaking area. They have speakers, booksignings, poetry readings, and more. Head on down and ask for a schedule!
This store has it all. They have everything from feeder crickets to shrubbery plants. There are employees in each section, specializing in what they do. There are animals of all kinds, making it a great place to bring the children. There are strong backs to load big things into your truck. The place has been in Spokane so long, its a landmark.
I brought in a list of what I was looking for in a computer, and the helpfull staff made a few suggestions, then built my computer for me. They even kept my computer in thier backroom when financial difficulties arose for me, and held on to it untill I could pay instead of selling it to someone else. The computer they built for me lasted about 4 years before I decided to get something up to date, and I passed it on to a friend who still uses it! I had my new computer built by them as well even tho I live on the other side of town now, and it was worth the drive!
PROS: smart, honest, fast, lots of options
CONS: too far from my house!
This store is run by one of the most knowledgable people in the field. The owner has degree in natural health, and has a lot of experience and contacts in the health area. They are not afraid to bring in new things. If you want to know what regime is best for what ache, just ask! They always make the time to make sure you understand what you are buying and why its the best. Also, the best may not mean most pricey, and you will get the honest answers. Open your mind, open the door, and you may be suprised!
PROS: great location, friendly and honest
CONS: a bit small
These people are wonderfull. Many of thier employees are volunteers. The animals are cared for well. They get groomed and walked as well as just fed. Spay and nueter is mandatory for any adoption. They also support services to offer affordable spay and nueters for animals who are already in homes!
PROS: well cared for animals and loving caretakers
CONS: space and funding is always limited
After a nasty accident, I was in need of a car, fast and cheap. This auction made that easy. Every other Sunday, they have auctions with a ton of vehicles in all price ranges. My new darling was the 3rd car in the auction, and we got her for $150. '85 chevy cavalier wagon in good condition. Had to replace the battery and water pump, that was all! Saw some nice cars go for cheap that day too. Some cars had dealer reserves, which means they must go for at least that amount or they dont sell. Seating was folding chairs on the blacktop. There was a food stand with *loud* foreign music at the start, and the auctioneers mic kept going out. So, it was a little disorganized, but all in all Id recomend it for anyone who doesnt want to get ripped off at the dealerships.
PROS: moves fast, good prices
CONS: outdoor seating, loud music at food stand hurts pre-auction conversations
4000 holes has been in Spokane as long as I can remember. They have moved, but they havent changed. This store has it all. What they dont have, they can get. Local bands always sell thier CD's here, so if you like anything local and cant find thier stuff, this is the first place you should look. They also have an uncanny way of finding out of print stuff, and memorabilia. If you like music, and dont want to fight your way through the malls, this is your store!
PROS: Local business, hometown feel and friendliness!
CONS: may have to wait for items to be ordered/shipped
