We got our dog at The Zoo 4 years ago, and she is so healthy . Many of my friends have purchased dogs from breeders and have had problems, but our dog has been wonderful. The Zoo is a little pricey, but they really take care of their animals. We have reccomended it to many people and no one has been unsatisfied yet. It is great place to get a dog.
A local favorite on the island, Park Avenue Cafe is known for their sandwiches. Personally I think they some of the best breakfast in the world. They have good portions, and the food is generally very good. It is always a little crowded, and service can be a little slow but if you want the Balboa Island feel, this is the place to go.
This store has the look of an old candy shop, and sometimes the feel. It has one of the best selections of salt water taffy's around. They even do special holiday taffy's, and almost all their flavors are delicious. The only complaint I have about the store is that the employees are usually not as attentive as they could be. All in all it is most certainly worth a visit.
Island home is a great place to shop, if you are looking for beautiful, high-quality things for your home. They are a little pricey, but they have some of the nicest furniture and acessories in the Newport area. The shop is easy to navigate and is decorated beautifully, and the staff is usually very helpful and friendly.
PROS: Beautiful stuff
Kaya Sushi is literally a little "hole in the wall" wedged into a business center across from Costco in Marina Del Rey. Even though it may not look great from the outside, once inside you will find some of the best sushi in Southern California. It is also home to some of the nicest waiters and sushi chefs I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I have been to Kaya many times and every experience has been excellent.
PROS: Excellent Food, Great Service.
I live on the Island and have eaten at Giorgio's many times. Growing up in an Italian family, I can say there food is excellent. Especially there pizzas and salads! There service is also usually very good, until my last experience. We came just to get drinks and because we were not ordering food our server treated us very poorly. Still I highly reccomend Giorgio's.
The new Hershey's Market now open on Balboa Island is much better than it's predecessor. It is layed out to help the shopper shop instead of turn them away, and it's new brite atmosphere and friendly staff make me want to shop there again. I highly reccomend this store to anyone, especially if they live on the Island.
The Gypsy Den at The Lab in Costa Mesa, is one of the best places to grab a bite to eat in South Orange County. Great food, friendly service, good hours, a comfortable atmosphere and a colorful crowd makes first time diners into regulars. Stop by and check it out, I doubt you'll be sorry.
PROS: Great Food.
Bliss Fine Florals has one of the best selection of plants, and the nicest, most knowledge staff I have ever experienced in any floral store. I highly reccomend checking out there store on Balboa Island. Every staff member has always made me feel at ease, answered my questions and been generally very helpful throughtout my shopping experience.
Five Seas is my favorite clothes store in Orange County. The always have the greatest selection of the freshest clothes around. Most of their staff is also very friendly and kind. I have only had one bad experience in the store, but it is still worth going to simply because the clothes are so great!
PROS: Wonderful selection of beautiful clothing
