AA Harrell Jewelry store is one of a kind. Located in the heart of 5 points, it seems like a relic from a previous decade. That could be due to the fact that Mr. and Mrs. Harrell have to be in their 80s. They are a very sweet couple who've been married for forever and worked together for all of the time. They are very helpful and "quirky". I would recommend going to AA Harrell for more than the jewelry...
Gudmundson and Buyck Jewelers is a nice jewelry store located conveniently on Devine Street not far from Five Points. Their salespeople have been very friendly and helpful each time I have visited. Their prices are reasonable, maybe a little on the high side, but the quality seemed worth it. I would recommend Gudmundson and Buyck for whatever jewelry need you may have.
Rice Creek Elementary School is a great example of a public elementary school. The faculty is well-educated, talented, and supportive of students and families. Rice Creek is part of Richland 2 school district which is recognized to be one of the best in the state. They offer a wide variety of related arts programs, including Spanish, music, pe, and art.
I am a graduate of USC's master's program. I would highly recommend this school for graduate work. Despite the fact that I have had a few "difficult" (when I say that, I don't mean the work is hard, it means their personalities are difficult to deal with) professors, I would say the quality of faculty is pretty good. Unfortunately to take a single graduate level class is almost $900, so that makes it pretty expensive. There are grant programs that may be available in certain areas, so I would certainly encourage all to inquire about those.
Mad Platter is a lot of fun for an interesting alternative to a regular evening out with friends. You don't need artistic talent to create beautiful pieces thanks to their selection of stamps and stencils. Their prices are very reasonable. I would not suggest, however their Stork deal for newborn foot prints. I spend $25 to get a plate with my nephew's footprints done and it did not turn out well, you couldn't even tell they were footprints.
GDC has a great selection of interesting furniture, great fabrics, and unique accessories. They have in house decorators to help you put furniture together. Their prices are very reasonable considering the quality and uniqueness of the pieces. I would highly recommend GDC for those of you who like interesting home furnishings that you wouldn't find at chain furniture stores.
If you are someone who doesn't like mass-produced, "fake-wood" furniture, Celadon is the place for you. They carry interesting furniture, unique accessories, and other items for the home. The staff is very friendly and helpful and will make sure that you find the perfect piece for your home. They
have sales regularly that really make their pieces affordable!
Frankie Turner with Flowers by Frankie is a definite for your wedding. She did an awesome job with my flowers at my wedding. The flowers were gorgeous and her prices beat everyone else's I talked with. She was awesome with working with my budget. I told her what I wanted to spend and she came up with beautiful flowers that were exactly what I wanted. She was great about communicating with me to find out exactly what I wanted and ended up doing a wonderful job with my wedding. Check out her website at www.flowersbyfrankie.com .
Heidi recently did the photography for my wedding and I was impressed with her performance the day of the wedding and with the actual pictures. I had more difficulty with her organization after the wedding. The proof album did not have order forms to order reprints or pick pictures for my album and the parents album. After I created an order form, the reprints I recieved were not correct. Also, the pictures I chose for the wedding album weren't the ones I'd chosen. Although Heidi went above and beyond to make me happy, it was a very long process to get my album and my parent's album the way I wanted.
I love the Stitch and Frame Shop. While they have a large selection of cross stitch patterns and materials, I go there whenever I need something framed. The best time to go is during their bi-annual sale in April and October. The quality of their framing and friendliness of their staff is unmatched by larger chain stores that do framing. I would highly recommend the Stitch and Frame Shop.
