Pollis Mexican Restaurant
If you like mexican food, you'll love Polli's. Located on Makawao Ave, just across from Komoda Bakery, this restaurant is known island-wide for it's yummy margaritas. Don't drink? Order a virgin margarita and your taste buds will be singing.
Jack's Inn
This local diner is great if you're on a tight budget and still want quality food. This quaint diner is often busy with customers coming and going, but don't hesitate to go. The great food along with affordable prices makes this place a great place to stop and eat. Parking is usually available daily. Saturdays and Sundays are the busiest and there is usually a wait for a table or booth, but it is worth the wait. It's a fairly small diner, but that means personal service. Very friendly environment. Me and my family eat breakfast here every other Sunday. For a family of 4, all we need is a $20 bill.
Seki's Machine Works
Sekis is one of the best machine shops on Maui. With a knowledgeable crew, it has been in business for over 30 years. From tractors to toyotas, they can take care of all your engine needs. My husband likes to build cars from the ground up and he takes his engine blocks to get done here. Very good work and the crew is very helpful.
T Komoda Store & Bakery Inc
This is by far the BEST bakery on Maui. They have been around for years and is still the best at what they do. From butter rolls to long johns. This bakery is hard to beat. When you get a chocolate chantilly cake for your child's birthday party, you're sure to please everyone. It is located on the corner of Baldwin Ave and parking is often available. They have their own designated parking area right next to it. They have been in business for a lot of years and their butter rolls taste the same as they did when I was a little girl. They bring back a lot of childhood memories.
Sheik's Restaurant
Sheiks has been around for a long time. Since I was a little girl and my aunt was a waitress. She always brought me a grilled cheese sandwich with fries. To this day when I walk in there, everyone knows that I want a grilled cheese w/ fries. Reasonable prices and a friendly staff are what keeps people coming back.
NAPA Auto Parts - Standard Motors
Whatever you may need to fix or maintain your automobile, this place has it. And if they don't, they'll make sure you get it, even if they have to refer you to another auto parts store. That's how dedicated they are to help you with your needs. My husband is a mechanic and gets his parts from here first before even thinking about looking anywhere else. With knowledgable staff and a friendly environment, this place is hard to beat. Parking is limited, but if you have a big order, they are more than happy to deliver it to you.
Kids At Play
This preschool definitely deserves its name. Children not only have fun while they learn, but they find security in themselves while they play and develop the social skills that they need when they enter elementary school. Kids At Play teach children to "use their words" and to not be afraid to express their feelings. My child is a prime example of that learning and care. There is usually a long wait list, but if you can get in, check it out.
Pukalani Superette
This mom and pop store has been in business on Maui for over 50 years. It doubles as a grocery store and a catering business all in one. With reasonable prices and a friendly environment, this establishment has a wonderful reputation for it's local food. Recently renovated, this store is sure to keep people coming back for more. This one-stop shop has everything you need, whether its a carton of milk or a container of their world famous tako poke (boiled octopus w/ special seasonings), you're sure to find what you're looking for. Even though there is a lot of parking, it's often always filled up.
Restaurant Matsu
This authentic japanese restaurant has the best tempura you're ever gonna taste. Don't let the size of this restaurant fool you. It may be small, but the taste sure isn't. From noodles to plate lunches, their japanese cuisine is the best in Kahului. Whether it's a tray of california rolls on your lunch break, or a container of tempura with saimin noodles, the prices are very affordable. Ranging form $5.00 and up, nothing can beat this place. Parking is limited and most often I usually call ahead for take-out.
Ichiban Restaurant & Sushi
Ichiban is one of the greatest sushi bars I've ever been to. Freshly, hand-made sushi made right in front of you. What more could you ask for? Not a big sushi eater? Well, besides their sushi, they have an array of fine dishes to choose from. My tip, if you're looking for a meal that won't bust your bank, go for lunch instead of dinner. Still great food at an affordable price.
