Sweets & Treats
The service is not the best, we have pre-ordered things over the phone for a party, expecting it to be done at a certain time, only to find that they sold it to other people. This has happened a couple of times. Even though their service is not that great, their sweets and ethnic treats are very good, which is why we keep going back. If you can bypass the service and keep an open mind, try their unusual signature food called "Burek," a traditional Macedonian phylo-type food (like spinach pie). You can have it filled with either meat or feta cheese and it tastes wonderful!
Century 21
This company, just moved their offices to Northville-not too far from this location. I am rating this office, because their move is so recent, I have not been to their new location yet. The service and quality is the same, just a new location. Our agent has helped my parents, relatives and my own family find houses, with great prices. Vicki Reasons is the agent you want to talk to for help in finding that perfect home. She is very patient and will help you find the house you're looking for. She actually stayed with us for about 6 months, while we were trying to make up our minds in buying that perfect home. She also quietly twisted our arm, when she found the right deal for us--she didn't push, but she did let us know when it was a great and that it was time to buy. She is also an award winning agent, and has been doing this for a long time. Our next house will be found through Vicki!
Joe Randazzo Fruit & Veg Mkt
This place does have good prices, compared to the local supermarket, however, their selection of fruits and vegetables are not that crisp or fresh. There have been a number of times that I would buy something and cut it open only to find it over ripe, or not as tasty, even though it looks good and shiny on the outside. Their service is not the best and their stores are not that clean. You really get what you pay for here. You want cheap prices, you get average quality. If you really want excellent quality, go to their competitor, Westborn Market. You will pay more there, but it will be worth it.
Clyde Smith & Sons Greenhouses
We have been coming here for years, buying flowers and plants even small trees and shrubs. They have a huge selection of everything for the greenthumb. Their service is 5-star and their prices can not be beat. They always have people there to help you carry things out to your car, and they are very kind. The parking is easy to get to right off of Warren, and their stores are very well lit, clean and organized. Definately worth checking out!
Tom Waligorski Roofing
They did a great job on our roof. We had it completely redone, since the contractor before Waligorski did a shoddy job. Waligorski has also done the roof of our friends and neighbors. They gave us a great deal and we do trust them. In fact, a local real estate agent, friend of mine recommended them. My parents had a small leak in their roof and they were able to fix that easily, my parents were expecting to replace the roof, he told them that it was not necessary at that time. They are honest, and nowadays that is hard to find.
John K King Books
A spectacular amount of books and odd collectibles that you have never seen before! This place has over four stories of old hard to find classic books-some signed and 1st edition. It is so easy to get lost in here-you are bound to find at least one book that you thought you would never find again! Everybody there has been so helpful to me, and they really know their stuff. Definitely worth going to! Parking is pretty much any lot you can find available, I usually park on the street. The location is not in the best of areas, so make sure to lock your car door when you leave.
Bennett Elementary School
Every child needs a good strong foundation with a lot of positive encouragement. This school is definately there to provide this and more. The staff is very caring, kind and patient, and over the years there have also been some new additions and renovations that help keep this school on the top of the list.
Comics Archives Inc
The staff is very courteous and receptive. There are certain days that they are open later, and they have specials-like 20% off of anything in the store on certain days-call to find the exact days. They have a large availability of their cards and can locate what they don't have. It is very clean, neat and organized. They treat you almost like family, because they remember you by name everytime you come back. We usually park right on the street, since there is always room in front of the store.
Wizzywig Collectibles
An incredible amount of japanimation toys! These are items you would never see unless you were buying online. The prices are very good and they are always getting new things in! The workers there are very helpful and fully into this type of memorabilia, so they know a lot about everything in there. Everything is very organized and easy to find. Wizzywig is so popular with the university kids (it is located in a university town), that they just expanded their store. Ample parking is in the structure right down the street.
Big Ben's Comix
I have been coming here for about 15 years, since I could remember collecting comics and toys. Even though the name changed a few times, Ben has always been there. The owner is very pleasant and extremely helpful. He is always willing to lend an ear if you are looking for a few items and he has helped me track down some other items. The store is cluttered, but not in a bad way. It has so many things, that they are stacked all over the place. There is ample parking in the back of the store. If you want a great comic book store with an honest to goodness atmosphere, definately come here.
