River Bend Shoe Ctr
When I looked for boots last winter, I needed a good sturdy but easy to slip on boot. I went to this shoe store that advertised "Quality Shoes for the Entire Family" and One of the Largest Selections of Styles and Sizes". Well, at the middle of November they only had two styles and neither were in my size (9). They said "you should have come in sooner". So this year, I went in early October and they said "We don't have our shipment yet" . So I went again today (end of October) they have three styles and none in my size! They don't live up to their advertisement!
Smolik Contractors
This is a small company who does big business. They install doors, windows and remodeling. The absolute best thing about them is that they actually show up when they say they will !!! and the job is done on time!!! And for the price they quoted!!!! I have recommended them to others and I know that everyone has been 100% satisfied. They will take away all the old supplies and never leave a mess - everything was covered and no mess in or outside my house.
Klemmer's Banquet Center
This is where you want to have your party. Weddings, gatherings after funerals, graduation party. They will treat you with respect and professionalism. They will work with you on how you want your hall decorated and what extras they can provide for you. The surroundings are elegant and always beautiful. One of the best features is their large parking lot. Also, they have wheelchair accessibility - especially since they seem to cater to many meetings and get together sfor the elderly.
Associated Bank
I don't like to give a bad review - but this is a warning I heard about. After having a 30 year mortgage at this bank, a relative had them try to charge a late fee that was 5 years old. Saying that five years earlier they were late payint the mortgage six times. They are getting to the end of paying off the mortgage and when notified of this extra fee the customer was treated rudely and actually told their own customer they were lying and had to bring in the mortgage coupon they were reading from to prove they were telling the truth. This was said by a district manager. My relative will pay off the mortgag by taking money from savings and take all their money out of Associated Bank. They want this warning out there.
Olgas Hair Fair
This is a place I've gone to since 1974. It is a very small salon and I have followed them up and down Oklahoma Avenue when the shop has moved. They take good care of me and since I don't drive, both of the operators have even come to my home and picked me up and taken me home. I don't think the price has risen in many, many years. I first found out about them because I had a sudden funeral to attend and I called my regular beautician and she wouldn't stay late to help me. Liz took me on the spur of the moment and I've never gone anywhere else.
Patterson Orchards
There is an apple orchard right next to the shop. They have had this family owned business for generations. My family has been going out to Pattersons for over 40 years. I have never been disappointed with anything. In the cold store room they have a sign above every bushel of apples telling you the taste and texture of each group. They also have hundreds of recipes free for your choosing. They recommend which apple to use for pie. They also have many different kinds of fall squash. In the fall they have pumpkins and corn husks for decoration. As well as some of the best carmel apples around.
Paul Weise Furniture
This is a small company that deals in beautiful furniture. They have every exotic wood known. We matched some dark pieces that we inherited. So these were antique tables and we found end tables and overstuffed chairs with matching legs. We could not believe our luck. We had been looking around at the big furniture stores for months. They had a great selection and the clerks were very knowledgebable about the pieces they had. The only problem was parking. Not enough close to the store for weekend shopping. I think during the week it would be better.
Schilling Concrete Contracting
This is a very small local contractor who does concrete work. We had to have our basement wall reinforced which caused our sidewalk along the front and side of the house to be removed. The concrete work was done in a timely manner - at the time the weather was a problem with rain and cold weather. Another contractor we talked to said "Oh temperature doesn't matter." We later found out that it did matter with setting concrete so we were happy we chose Schilling to do our work. We have recommended him numerous times.
Sidello Property Svc Inc
I know this family owned business does many different construction type jobs but we used them to build a beautiful concrete wall in our back yard. Our previous wall was falling down and the stone was deterioating. We got a few estimates and this company went above and beyod what they promised. First they arrived just as promised. Then the wall is constructed so well it looks like artwork out the back windows. They also advised us as to what to put on top - always keeping it covered with wood chips helps to keep the ground from washing away. This was done about 6 years ago and still looks brand new.
Fashion Bug
This is a very small place with wall to wall and floor to ceiling carpeting to choose from. We actually got a remnant for a small room and had it installed in a couple days. We were so pleased with that that we decided to carpet our other two bedrooms. This was about 7 years ago and that carpet has definitely stood to the test of time much better than our living room carpet that we got at a big named place. We willnever go anywhere but Warehouse Carpets.
