Iolani School is a very good college prep school with a very strong academics. However, the tuition is quite expensive and is at $12,200 right now. I do think the education this school provides is worth the cost. The students consistently do well on the SAT's and ACT's, as well as AP exams. Many students from each grade attend Ivy League schools, and over 99% of the graduating class each year attends college.
This church just got a new pastor this past year, and I am very pleased with the choice. He always seems to have a relevent sermon each week. The atmosphere in the church (socially) is also very good and the people who attend are very welcoming. The location is very convenient, being right across the street from the mall, but there is not much parking.
This dentist is very good at make you feel at ease - he has interesting things to look at when you are sitting in the chair waiting. He is always cheerful, and his dental assistants are as well. The reception area is also nice because it is decorated with stained glass that the dentist made himself.
I have been going to Mid Pacific Eyecare for over 10 years and have been satisfied. The doctors make you feel comfortable and know what they are doing. One of the doctors always has a funny story to tell to make you feel at ease. I bought my eyeglasses frames here for about the same price as I would have paid at Lenscrafters, so the prices are reasonable. For an eye exam and dilation, it cost me about $130.
I like Kapiolani Medical Center because they have many services available in one building., including pediatricians, a pharmacy, a lab to get your blood drawn, and many more services. The hospital is also easy to get around, and the nurses don't seem overworked. The only bad thing is the parking is usually full.
AAA is very good for all your travel needs. They are good about giving you travelers' checks, and there is usually no line. When I needed help jump starting my car, they arrived in 25 minutes to help. If you are looking for auto insurance, though, AAA Hawaii doesn't do it directly, and you have to go through AIG Hawaii.
I went to AIG to look into car insurance for a car located in Colorado, because I knew they are a national company. However, it turns out that AIG is actually AIG Hawaii, which means it is not directly connected with AIG Insurance company that is nationwide. I couldn't insure a car in Colorado by going through the AIG office in Hawaii, but had to go through a 1-800 number just to get any help.
Flowers and Sunshine is a great florist because they will do special orders quickly, even around graduation time when they are swamped with business. The staff knows a lot about what kinds of flowers are appropriate for certain occasions, and which kinds of flowers and plants cannot be shipped or taken to the mainland.
Sweets Garden is a small business. Usually you can find the owner working there, and he is very nice and always cheerful. He offers good shave ice at a cheao price, as well as many local snacks. He also custom makes graduation leis (candy etc). Avoid going right after school gets out, as the place is packed with kids.
