Salon Rupa
I love this salon. It is a really no frills place, but they nonetheless do a wonderful job. I usually get my hair cut here and my eye brows done here. They have very reasonable prices for both things and the great thing is that I don't even need an appointment. There are two ladies that work there and both of them are great at making you walk out looking great. Parking is rarely a problem to find either.
Pure Laser
If you are looking for advanced skin care, then this place is one of your best bets in the city. They offer all sorts of care, like microdermabrasions, laser hair removal, scar therapy, and much, much more. I love the fact that all the people here are very knowledgeable and professionaly licensed to do these procedures. And consultations are free, so you can go in beforehand and get an idea of what it is that you need done and an idea of the way it is done and the cost associated with it.
Uic Medical Bookstore
I like this bookstore a lot just because the selection here is so great. They have lots of books on every subject, so you get a chance to compare and contrast before you buy. And since everything is geared towards the Medical field, you never get any fillers. The prices are standard, you might get a better deal on some online store, but the selection here is really wonderful. They also have lots of other things here for sale, like scrubs, lab jackets, and stethescopes.
Powell's Bookstore Inc
This is a used bookstore and the best of its kind in the Chicago area. Once you step into this store, you will need a good couple of hours before you will be able to venture out. And that is because there are just so many books here to choose from. They have shelves and shelves of books that are so interesting and, often times, hard to find anywhere else. Be prepared to sift and search though because this store is not super organized at all times!
Kiss My K9
This is a wonderful place for any dog owner. This family owned business specializes in caring and grooming for all kinds of dogs. You can get a variety of services done here - leave your dog here and they can sit him/her for you, get your dog groomed here, get food and supplies for your dog here. Your dog will seriously love you even more if you utilize this place. They even have in-home services if you can't make it into the store or are going out of town!
La Salle Flower Shop
This is a really cute flower shop that has been on this street corner for years. It is the perfect stop for any occassion. It is close to many great restaurants, so it makes a convenient stop before dates. They also do deliveries within the city and even within the entire country, so you can schedule that as well. The great thing is that you can go in and pick out your own arrangement from their great selection of fresh flowers. It adds a really personal touch to flower delivery!
Meghana Jewelers Inc
If you like flashy jewelery or big studded jewelery, then this is a good place to stop. Everything they carry is 24K gold, so it is all pretty bright. Each of their pieces, whether it is a necklace or a bracelet, has an intricate design made with stones and/or cubic zirconia. Some of their items are really pretty, while others are a bit flashy. But either way you should stop in here and check out their pieces. They have some really nice rings with really cute designs for reasonable prices here!
Judith L Ansteth Jewelers
This is the place to go if you would like to get custom designed jewelery. These people can work with your designs or they can even help you create a design. They are really professional and knowledgeable and they have a great selection of stones and setting to choose from. And the best part about this place is that they have wholesale prices, so you will be saving a bit of money on a unique, unmatched item!
Dental Profile
If you don't have dental insurance and need some major dental work done, then this may be a good option for you. Though the dentists here do not do any free dental work, they do everything at discounted rates. You can easily save a few hundred dollars here on dental work. The only problem is that it is really hard to get an appointment here and you will probably have to wait a month before you can actually see the dentist. If your dental work is not an emergency, then this place might work for you.
Caminos Agatha - Wise Dental Assoc
This place has been my stop for all dental work for years now. The dentists here are so great. They are really great at what they do and also people friendly, so you will never feel uncomfortable and will always have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. The nurses and staff are the same way. They work with you to fit appointments in your schedule, make payment plans, and followups with you after your appointment. I have been to other dentists, but this place is by far the best. They will make trips to the dentist a pleasure for you!
