Maine Township High School
My cousin went to this high school and I went with her as a visitor a few times. I was not at all fond of this school. The school needed to have more security. I used to see students smoking in the bathrooms all the time. The teachers were also not that great. One time my cousin asked for extra help after school and her teacher told her he could not fit it into his schedule. No apologies or other alternatives either. The atmosphere of this school is very laid back and not very pro-education. I think there are much better schools out there.
Pivot Point Beauty School
This is probably the one Pivot Point student clinic location that really sucks. I have always had a good experience at the Evanston and Bloomingdale one, so I thought I would go here. The students here were terrible. The girl was so harsh on my hair and she did a terrible job of washing, cutting, and blowdrying it. Worst of all, the teacher's were never around to supervise. After the great services I had gotten done at other locations, this was teh last thing I was expecting. Terrible service for really low prices -- is that what you are looking for? Well, I'm not.
Schaumburg High School
I attended Schaumburg High School for my freshman year before my parents moved. It was a wonderful school. The entire staff here was so nice. I had teacher's that were really dedicated and they spend lots of extra time after school with tutoring and activities. The atmosphere at this school was great; everybody was really friendly and super motivated. Plus, there was tons of school spirit. I really hated to leave this school. But I would recommend it to anybody as a great, fun, and safe learning environment.
Keller Jr High School
My little nephew goes to this school. I have been here for a few of his sporting events and am always happy to see a very friendly and educational environment. The students all seem happy and the school does a lot to make sure the students are focused. I know my nephew has to keep up his grades to stay on any sports team. They are also really rigorous with attendance. One time, I had to call my nephew out of school because my sister was too sick to call herself. The people in the attendance office went above and beyond to make sure that I was an authorized person to take my nephew home. Pretty good because they care for the safety of their students!
Dawes Elementary School
Dawes School is right on the border of Evanston and Skokie, so you have two good cities to vouch for this school. Though the school may look a bit dreary from the outside, it is realy well maintained on the inside. The teacher's are wonderful and they really take their jobs seriously. Plus, the student population here is great. You get a great mix of cultures and students from all different backgrounds, so your child will be sure to get a good exposure to different people. Overall, a very nice school with a dedicated staff and a nice student body.
Lutz Continental Cafe & Pastry
This is probably the best bakery in all of Chicago. When you walk into this little bakery, you will be very pleased with the nice aroma and the really pretty cakes and pastries. And they don't just look pretty, they taste great too! This place has goods that are always fresh and baked daily. I also love to go here for breakfast because you can buy stuff that has been freshly made, grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy your great little meal in their little cafe area. You can people watch too!
Sari Sapne Inc
This is an indian clothing store. It has the most beautiful saris here. They have a huge range of them and there's so many to see. The sales people here are great and will take their time to help you find what you need and to answer your questions. They will even give you discounts if you buy in quantity. Parking is hard to find in the area though.
Pulaski Thrift Store
This is a nice thrift store. They have almost anything and everythign you can imagine -- furniture, clothes, shoes, accessories, toys, and much more. The store is pretty well organized and the people working here are also pretty well acquanited with the store, which really helps. They have a lot of stuff here that is lightly used and there some great things to be found here.
Bellini Baby & Teen Furniture
This place is a really great littlle furniture store. Its the perfect place to get a new baby's room furnished. All the peices are unique and many of them are hand crafted. Its pretty expensive, but everything is unique and very durable. You can even get a custom order done; the people working here are great at helpign with that!
Jeans Gifts
We got wedding favors made from this little gift shop. They have the most unique little gifts, many of which are hand made. And the lady that owns this shop was really friendly. She worked with us to help us design the perfect favor and she did a wonderful job. Its a really unique place to go if you want some great gifts.
