Payne's is located in the Elk Plaza which makes it very convenient for anyone in town. It is a small jewelry shop, but they have a nice selection. The owner, Charles Rucker, does quality work. My father-in-law has always had good customer service from him, but the one piece of jewelry I bought from here (my husband's wedding band) left much to be desired. Besides trying to over charge me, Mr. Rucker was not friendly at all and I felt as if I wasn't spending enough to get good customer service. Maybe if you buy lots of jewelry and spend lots of money with Payne's they treat you better, but I'll never buy from them again.
The State Farm Insurance Companies are some of the best. I have had insurance through a couple of different agencies in my lifetime and they seem to be the most competent. When we first moved to Duncan, we had to make a claim within weeks of moving in. Because of some different issues, we sought counsel from them about another concern. They were very helpful and didn't try to "take" us. Rather, they were very honest and explained how it could hurt us.
The Squirrels Nest is a neat little place to shop. It is conveniently located on highway 81 that runs right through Marlow. It is a quaint little shop that is housed in an old two-story house. They have unique gifts for sale. They also have a little "cafe" that serves tea-room type food. They are also super friendly and happy to help.
Finally, you don't have to commute to take classes from Cameron. They don't offer everything here, but the basics and a few other kinds of classes are right here. Some classes are conducted via telecast. It is very easy to ask the instructor questions even though he/she is in Lawton lecturing a class simultaneously. It is a very nice building, and they are in the planning stages of building a 4,000 square foot Student Center.
This is a great place that has been around for years. They have a great selection in store. If there is something you need that they don't have in stock, they can get anything. My husband used them when we lived in another town. They ordered what we needed and shipped it to us ~ no problem. They have a very professional staff who know their stuff. It is located on the corner of Main Street a few blocks from downtown.
This is a little known management company in Duncan. They manage apartments all over Oklahoma and some in Texas. They have a wonderful staff who is helpful and friendly. If you have any questions, ask for Cricket. She is so nice, friendly, and funny. They are very professional and have a great track record as management companies go.
Kay's has a very knowledgeable staff. They are friendly and are happy to help you with your housing needs. There are many associates who work here, so there is always someone available to help. Their building is located near downtown Duncan, and is housed in an old 2 story house. They have been around for many years and are very good at what they do.
This place has been here forever! It has some nostalgia ~ going to an honest-to-goodness barber shop. The barbers there are VERY good. They are really good with kids, too. Their prices are much cheaper than trendy stylists, but you don't sacrifice on quality Sometimes there is a wait, but it's great to just sit and visit or listen to them talk.
I needed to see Dr. Dickerson when I was down for a visit before moving here. They were able to see me after my mother (who was a patient at the time) called and asked (they told me no new patients!). His office is very out dated, but he was very nice. His staff was nice, too, and helpful. Although he was nice and seemed knowledgeable, I chose someone else when I became a resident here.
Dr. Gregg is a super nice man. He does great work and is very gentle. He is easy to talk to. He listens to your concerns and shows concern himself. One of the nicest, kindest, dentists in town. His prices are comparable. He is located downtown. The decor in the waiting is warm and comforting. And his receptionists are very friendly.
