This bakery is located quite a ways from the Berkeley campus. If my friend's apartment wasn't in this area I doubt I'd have ever discovered it.
Menu items are the cookies, cakes, danish, muffins, and croissants. All are made from scratch and must have gobs of butter as their main ingrediants... Extremely tasty, tough to moderate oneself while exposed to those wonderful aromas.
Prior to attending an architectural workshop in the Mid-West, we were given a list of required supplies for the class. A set of colored pencils, graphite pencils, a watercolor set, markets, etc.
I was definitely feeling a bit over my head, but luckily I was able to find most everything at University Art. Many items were heavily discounted at the time, making them great pickups. The staff was very helpful, I gave them the list and they quickly helped me locate everything.
I've been going here for a while since my maintenance program with the local dealer ended. It would have been prohibitive to continue to go to the dealer for standard work like oil change, brake tuning, etc.
So every 5k miles or so I bring it in for service. It's walking distance from where I live which is a bonus. I haven't had any major issues, the mechanics are very upfront and responsible.
I always like to give the local bagel shop some business. Whenever it's my turn to pick up bagels for work I'll swing by here. The bagels are fresh and they have several types of interesting cream cheese to spread on them. My favorites are the bagels with cheese crusted all over them, as well as the cinnamon and onion bagels. I also enjoy their sandwiches, coffee and smoothies.
The staff is always cheerful and curtious.
I used to come here all the time after school ended. Brightly lit, conducive to studying. Back in high school no one was watching their weight and we'd gorge on the many variants of donuts. Donut holes were popular, cheap and tasty.
It's easy enough to order batches for morning snacks at work, snacks for kids, special occasions.
I was a member for about four years. It's not open to random new members, you have to be put on a waiting list and get approved. The club is in close proximity to Palo Verde elementary school.
Inside there is one large swimming pool, another medium one for kids, and 4 tennis courts. Most of the time the courts are occupied by lessons, if you go by yourself just hope that there's an open court.
Not much in the way of a weight room which is the main reason I stopped going. But it's a good club for those in the area.
Took a look at this gym via a free one-week pass promotion. There are three main fitness areas, all nicely sized. I was mostly interested in the cardio and weight room, they also teach a variety of classes (yoga, pilates) at the gym. It doesn't take much to impress me. Lots of equipment, clean facilities, good environment for working out.
The dealbreaker for me was the lack of constant 24-hr availability. Otherwise I would have been tempted to join.
I had an older model BMW who's instrumentation panel started acting strangely. Eventually it was deemed to dangerous to drive, since the gas meter never rose about empty, and the MPH dial didn't light up.
I called around a bunch of shops until I found this one. They had to special order the panel for me, took about two weeks to finally get it. They installed it and everything has been working great since.
I came here after coming back from a trip out of the country. My eye was seeing things and I wanted to test for retina disturbances.
The doctor that checked me out was rather grumpy that day. Perhaps he didn't take me seriously due to my age. I didn't fit the typical profile. Nonetheless he took out his yellow light, shined it into my eye, used his special lense to look at the back of my eye. He asked me a few questions here and there, but told me everything was fine and discharged me.
Not the most congenial person but I suppose the diagnosis was correct.
The reason I switched to Dr. Befu is because my gums were getting affected by the years of braces. His approach really grounds the notion of practicing good brushing habits. Each tweak of the braces was done in a fashion to least disturb the gums.
Their approach does take a bit of patience but I feel it's worth it to avoid any long-lasting dental problems.
