I go to la Senorita almost every Tuesday night for their nacho special in the lounge. It's only $2.50 for a giant plate of cheese nachos ($3.50 with chicken or beef) and they have all kinds of drink specials as well. The staff is great, they always remember us and most of the time already know exactly what we want.
The Candle Factory has just about anything you can possibly think of as far as candles go. And it smells sooo good inside. Great place for gift shopping.
I love going to the Camera Shop for film developing. Although it's more expensive than a chain-store, the quality is incredible. The staff is very knowledgeable about what they do and are great at answering questions. They also have reasonable prices on equipment and are very willing to help.
Usually when I go into the Bookie Joint, I'm not shopping for books, but looking for pins and stickers. They have a GREAT selection of liberal/radical political pins and bumper stickers for great prices. They also have a very large selection of used books, and they accept used books for store credit. This is a great little store.
This is one of my favorite places in the world to shop. I find great deals here all the time and Gloria, the owner, is a such a nice, sweet woman. She's always making reccommendations to me based on what I buy and giving me deals for being a good customer. She gives pretty good trade-in deals and has helped my collection of old Babysitter's Club books to flourish.
I strongly dislike shopping at FYE - everything is incredibly overpriced and unorganized. In their attempt to classify things they make it almost impossible to find anything. The best thing they have going for them is their large selection of used CDs, although you have to hunt a lot to find good stuff.
I don't know if I've ever seen so many hats in my life. If you're looking for any kind of hat, this is the palce to go. It's a lot of fun to just browse around and try on silly hats.
Hocus Pocus is an awesome store. Sure, it may be a little bit run down, but it has a very local feel. They have a lot of used/hard-to-find old video games, a bunch of good comics, and anything you'd ever need for a costume. I remember going in there when my brother and I were younger and my brother would always be mesmerized by the owner's magic tricks. Good memories. Good store.
The Leaping Lizard has a great selection of home and gift items. I can browse in there for hours. I especially enjoy their unique picture frames and garden accessories.
I really enjoy this store, even though I rarely buy things here. There's a great selection of cool little things, lotions, jewelry, etc. The woman who owns/runs the store is incredibly nice. I'm really glad this store is part of our downtown.
