The best thing about Dino's is that they're open until 3 AM on weekends. Their pizza is excellent, especially the square deep dish, and they always have tons of promotons and specials so their prices are great.
Ming's Garden is great for Chinese carry-out. I especially enjoy their vegetable fried rice and egg drop soup. Their prices are reasonable, you get a hold of food, and they get your order out very quickly.
This store basically just sells over-priced decor and finds it acceptable to objectify women witht heir window display. I'm not a fan of this place, their prices are outrageous and so are their attitudes.
I'm not too big on going to bars to drink, but I go to the U&I quite often to eat. They have great appetizers (I'm a big fan of the quesadilla), really good pita pizzas and gyros. They have great prices and nice service and they also do carryout orders.
There's a reason Mabel's keeps getting voted the best family restraunt in the area - they are. They have wonderful homemade breads and soups, great breakfasts and very reasonable prices.
I've always enjoyed shopping at Horizon Books. They have a good selection, good prices, and a friendly, helpful staff. They're always willing to help me find hard-to-find books and order things for me whenthey don't have them in stock. Their coffee shop is decently adequate and they have lots of room to sit around and relax and read.
Jacob's Well has the potential to be a pretty decent establishment, but they decided that their religious message is more important than anything else. It used to be a pretty cool place to go to see live bands, but things have changed over the past few years as the message of the church they are affiliated with has clouded their atmosphere.
I've been very pleased with my experiences at Companion Animal Hospital. Dr. Izzo is a very kind, compassionate woman who really cares about the welfare of your pets. They gave my cat better care then I've recieved at some doctor's offices. They thouroughly explain the procedures and after care and are there to answer any questions you might have. I highly recomend this facility.
If you're looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy a good meal at night, I wouldn't recommend North Peak. The last few times I've eaten there I've literally had to scream over the table to hold any kind of conversation because the noise coming from the bar was so loud. The service is usually pretty slow as well, and it's very unfortunate because they have excellent food. And although I've never sampled any of the alcoholic offerings from their brewery, the root beer is absolutely heavenly.
PROS: Good food, good drinks
CONS: Very, very loud
If you're looking for oganic/vegetarian/vegan food in the Traverse City area, Oryana is a must to check out. They're a relatively small market right now, although they'll be expanding over the next few months, but they carry fresh produce, coffees, health care products, and many many other things. They're a little bit on the pricey side because they're a small co-op, but it's worth it for the quality of food you're getting. The staff is always very nice and helpful and I always feel like I've done something good for the world when I shop there.
PROS: Awesome organic food
CONS: A little bit expensive
