If you are looking for a no nonsense haircut, you can't get better than Bob's. There are other places in town, but none offer the simplicity of an old school barber shop. The prices are always affordable and the quality is high. You know what to expect and you are not disappointed. It's cool to see a real barber at work.
It's like a step back into time. Walking around the Nature Reserve is like a vacation from the rest of the world. Follow one of the trails that wind for miles and miles back to the river. Visit the wetlands or the oriental garden. There is something for everyone. Bring your bike and ride on some of the trails that allow it. It's a great place for friends or for someone to get away from the rest of the world. Buy a single admission or a membership. It's worth it.
A good place to rent, but once they were great. Anyone else remember when Pacific Video was the place in town, or should I say towns. They had the location in Pacific, the one (and now only) Gray Summit store and the Catawissa one. They carried lots of copies and had some loyal customers. Anyone remember the 24 hour automatic machine that either never worked right or was broken? Then they were devoured by one little Blockbuster in Eureka. You would have thought they'd have seen it coming.
Isn't it nice to stroll into a video store and feel confident that they will have the title you're looking for, from the obscure to the mainstream. Rent-n-Go is that place. From the days it was known as Liles Video to now, it's the place for your Faces of Death, your cheesy horor, you name it. Granted they are mostly on VHS, but hey, beggars can't be choosers. Drop in and check em out.
What in the world happened to the building? It looks like a shanty town assembled with no plan. Why didn't they just build a second high school instead of destroying the aesthetic simplicity of the old school. Why two gyms? I am so unimpressed with the structure these days. I guess it's a little sad that when I come home, it's like my high school disappeared and was replaced by this mess! I remember good teachers who cared, but it's hard to put that memory together with this reality.
I've never been that impressed, but then again I'm not the simple bar kind of guy, I guess. I've given it a shot and I'll admit karaoke is a blast here. But, I'm a little different than I was back in the day. I've always been unique, I suppose, but I prefer a place a little classier. Friends is a good place for a beer with friends, but I'd never just hang out in the joint. I know some folks who swear by it, though, so try it if it's your kind of thing.
I've seen Dr. Jones through just about every pet I or my family has owned. He's treated them all and helped a few of them pass away as painlessly as possible. There's something when you witness that care in the handling of a situation like that that stays with you. Don't tell him this, but Ii'm pretty sure I saw tears in his eyes once. That's cool to see someone care like that. He was a friend to my dad, my mom, us and our dogs. Pretty good guy.
For what it lacks in terms of quantity, it makes up for in quality of service and staff. There is something appealing about companies that are private and small that can exist in these days of Lowes and Home Depot devouring the little man. For a business to remain from my days there til now shows something.Small businesses are dependent upon word of mouth which is dependent on service. The won't have it all, but they'll take care of you if they can.
How awesome that Pacific finally got a business that stands out. The Great Pacific Coffee House is the best thing to happen to this town in a long time. I wish they had featured this type of thing when I lived there, but then again, that was before Starbucks swept the nation. There is something to be said for a private shop that is lacking at Starbucks or another chain. A great place to get a drink or chill out.
I have always trusted the accountants of Patterson & Forck, and I was very pleased when they relocated into a new office that compliments the work they do. In spite of the recent changes, the quality is constant. Trusting people with this type of access, financial, is a risky proposition, most of the time. There is a peace that pervades the office and the staff. You feel values and can rest confident that the feeling is true, not just as a client, but as a person.
