Hermann Park Golf Course
This golf course is not very well-taken care of. It is right by the medical center, and every time I have played here there are doctors taking a break. It is in a very nice area of town, and I guess you pay for that because your fee is not going to the maintenance of the course. They do not water here as often as they should, and the greens are very hard as a result. In my opinion, the only reason people play here is because of the convenient location and lack of any competition in the area.
Sharpstown Swimming Pool
This course is not as well-taken care of as some of the private courses, as it is a public golf course, but you cannot beat the price. It is very inexpensive to walk here, and fairly inexpensive in a cart as well. The people are nice; most of the time I come by myself and get put with other pairs or groups, and my experiences have been good. The people who golf here are generally friendly, and I enjoy coming here to play when I can.
Voss Road Animal Clinic
We bought a yellow lab puppy who had been given all of his initial shots here. When we asked for the paper work to send to a vet near our home, the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Even though I had to request it again because they didn't send it after the first request, I was pleased that they sent it at all since we weren't the actual clients of theirs. They seemed to really care about the animals and were very nice despite the disorganization we saw.
Cornelius Nurseries Incorporated
This nursery has a wide variey of plants and flowers. Their stock is always fresh and there is no question that the plants you buy here will live and probably thrive. You pay for that, though, as the plants are more expensive than other chain nurseries. They also stock a wide variety of seasonal decorations; so this is a good place to come shopping before the holidays to find unique decorative items and seasonal flowers.
Texas Art Supply
This store has a lot of selection. I have come here for different art materials for school projects, and they always have what I need. The people are very friendly and helpful, as well. You can buy mat board (for framing pictures) and have them cut it for much less than other stores. They also sell the machines to cut the mats.
Mw Cleaners
This dry cleaner is outstanding. He used to clean all of the football uniforms for our school team. After each game, I would drop them off in one big sweaty bag, and they came back in like new condition. If you smelled the uniforms, you would know that was a miracle. I also like their drive through service; it is very convenient for those people who are busy.
Second Childhood
The used clothing here is in good condition, but it is priced very high. The maternity clothes are nice, but one pair of used pants cost $40, and they were not a recognizable name brand. I did not find their selection of children's clothing to be very extensive the times I have shopped there. My recommendation to this store would be to increase inventory and lower your prices.
Second Childhood
This boutique carries clothes for infants, children, and pregnant women. Their regular prices seem a little high to me, but their sale prices are good. Usually at the end of the season they will put on a sale, and you can usually find some good bargains. They carry some name brands, but you really have to dig to find them. Their selection of maternity clothes was minimal.
Act Ii Resale Boutiques
This is an excellent little resale boutique. It has very expensive brands, and the prices are reasonable. Every season, the owner clears out stock and has wonderful sales. My wife bought an Oscar de la Renta jacket, with the $410 tags still attached, for $20. This store does only carry women's clothing, some jewelry, and shoes.
MD Anderson Cancer Center
I know there isn't a cure for cancer, but we have had many friends with cancer get treated at MD Anderson, and their cancer has been in total remission for years. One was a teenage boy; he went through chemotherapy, etc., and he is healthy and happy now; that was over 10 years ago. If any one I knew developed cancer, I would send them here because I could honestly give them hope by doing that.
