Pasadena Roller Skating Ctr
This roller skating rink offers several different session times throughout the week. I like the wooden floor of the rink, and there is a large carpeted area running next to the rink for sitting, changing skates, etc. There is a small arcade area and a snack cafe as well. They DJ will take requests, though they do seem to favor the "regulars." During the session, they have mix ups like couple's skate, lady's pick, limbo, and backwards skate.
Benfield Pines Ice Rink
It has been over a year since I have been there, due to pregnancy and having a baby. However, I always enjoyed this rink. The ice is kept up very well, with a smooth layer done during sessions by the zamboni. This is a no frills rink, with some bleacher seats by the rinks, and a small area outside of the rink for putting on skates and a couple of tables for parties. The only problem I have ever hard here was when there was a teenage employee wearing shirt that was extremely innappropriate for children to see. His boss did not seemed bothered by it, but did eventually ask him to turn it inside out so guests couldn't see it.
Great Wolf Lodge
This place is so much more than a hotel! It has an indoor and outdoor waterpark that will keep you busy for hours. The indoor park is open almost all day, and has several large slides, some small ones, a wave pool, fountains, a rock climbing wall, and more. My husband and I had as much fun as our three year old. I can't wait to go back!
Naturally Cozy Baby Wear
I recently purchased a Mei Tai carrier from Naturally Cozy Baby Wear. Because I had not used this sort of carrier before, the owner invited me to try on a sample carrier with my daughter and wear it around for a few minutes. She was able to help me learn the ways to tie it, and helped me decide which size would be best for me. This store specializes in organic carriers and also has doll carriers.
Sharon Buerger, LMT, NCTMB, CIMI
I have had the pleasure of several massages with Sharon Buerger. She always welcomes me with conversation about how I am doing before we get started, and takes the time to talk a little after the massage. I can only compare her massage to two other professional massage therapists, but she has by far been my favorite for a relaxing massage. According to my husband and sister, she can also do a good deep tissue massage, but since that ends up hurting, I've stayed away from it. I have also taken my baby to Sharon for infant massage instruction. She was very patient and understanding as I tried to sooth my crying son, and she guided me through a series of techniques to use while I learned which he liked best.
Jing Ying Institute
I have been involved with Jing Ying Institute several times even though I have not actually taken a class there. The first was when they had a fundraiser for victims of the Tsunami a few years back. The gave part of their space for a yard sale of donated goods, and ran demonstrations and classes for donations in the classroom area. During this event, I spoke with the owners, and found them to be incredibly kind, intelligent, caring people. Since that time, I have had the joy of seeing them perform at other locations in the area. As a bonus for homeschoolers, they offer a weekly PE class on Fridays.
Maria Smith
We have used Maria Smith for help with selling two houses. Both times, she has made it clear that her main focus is on helping her customers sell. She took the time to come over before we were ready to list to walk through and make suggestions about how to fix up the house. She then went over comps from the area to show us what other houses sold for and how much the sellers did or did not help. When it came time to list our houses, Maria did not spare any expense in advertising our home, and she managed to pull in a lot of interest, even at a slow market time. Another great thing is that she is very good at pricing homes, and will help you get what your home is worth, without putting out a too high asking price first.
La Leche League Columbia
La Leche League of Columbia is run by a team of leaders who have each been breastfeeding for several years, and most of whom have had more than one child. Not only do these moms bring forth vast amounts of knowledge from their own experience, but the have all been well trained in the different areas of importance relating to breastfeeding. On more than one occasion, the leaders have been able to offer me great advice on how to improve my nursing relationship, and I have seen them work one on one with moms who were having latch problems, let down problems, and more. These moms are only a phone call or meeting away, and have proved that they are interested in making every breastfeeding relationship work.
Anne Arundel Community College
Anne Arundel Community College is known as one of the best community colleges in the country. I have taken a handful of credit and non credit classes there, and for the most part have been very pleased. The course schedule and classes cover nearly every discipline, and you can find classes at night, on the weekends, or during the summer. The tuition for residents is considerably cheap, seeing as how I took a four credit Biology course for half the amount it cost for one credit at my College. The community college also offers a number of non credit classes that are just for exploring new interests or for certificates of completion for things like childcare.
The Celtic Knot Yarn Shop
I was in awe the first time I walked into this store and saw their beautiful yarn collection. The women that work here are so nice and helpful. Even though I was not signed up for a class at the time, I had one women who was more than happy to show me the technique I was stuck on in the middle of my first real project. This is a great store for supplies and help!
