The slogan for this place is "Where Style Meets Sport" and I think that's really true. If you are looking for a place to find workout gear that actually makes you look like you are in better shape than you are... check out Lucy.
I was first attracted to the mannequins in the window, but don't be put off by the spare interior of the shop. The staff are warm and inviting and very helpful.
Trying on workout gear is not my favorite thing in the world. I'm always on the search for something comfortable for yoga that will also work on the treadmill. Even though it was a bit on the pricey side, the staff at Lucy helped me to find several pieces that work for both activities.
As an added bonus they helped me to accentuate the positives and camouflage the negatives. Not an easy task after two kids!
Bottomline: Lucy will help you find some workout gear that look so good you may even look forward to working out.
This place is great if you are looking for top quality baby fashions at top prices. M Fredric features couture baby designers like True Religion Kids, Paper Denim Cloth Kids, and Da Nang Kids.
This is the kind of place where celebrities shop for their offspring because money is no object. If you don't mind shelling out $42 on a tee for your 6 month old, then this is the place for you.
I have to admit the stuff is cute, but I'll wait until the trend dies down and hunt for knock-offs before shelling out a hundred plus for a peacoat for my toddler.
Bottomline: Miniature Paris Hiltons may apply here.
This is the place to go for designer resale garments. Be prepared to pay for it, but you will get quailty stuff here! They even get brand new designer overstock so it's worthwhile keeping your eyes peeled for new inventory.
I've seen Gucci jeans, Prada handbags.. really high end items for a fraction of what they would cost new. I've even seen some Chanel here, ooh la la!
Most of the pieces are in EUC (excellent used condition) and look as if they've been worn only one or two times. This is a great place to find Manolo Blahniks if you are the Sex and the City type of girl!
The shop says they receive items from movie sets, wardrobe stylists, runway shows as well as the generous general public.
Bottomline: Bring cash to make some sweet deals even sweeter.
This place is not the place to go for a quick trip to buy some film. I must say that it's a great place to go if you are looking for a hard to find item. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and I've never had a problem they couldn't solve.
I have a couple of vintage and novelty cameras and finding film has never been a problem here. When shopping for a new camera the sheer inventory will have your head spinning, but the kind staff can hold your hand through the process making sure you get the kind of camera that suits your particular needs.
Bottomline: Picture perfect shopping for the novice or pro camera buff.
All new parents and parents to be should visit Safer Baby. They've done all the footwork for you and put together every product necessary to completely baby proof your place for your new arrival. From outlet covers to stove knobs... they have everything a paranoid new Mom needs to feel secure.
The only negative is that it's a tiny shop so navigating with a stroller or kids in tow can be a bit of a pain. Also, there is negative parking unless you are extremely lucky. I think there is one spot out back. Otherwise you have to hope that someone on Ventura is pulling out at exactly the time you wish to pull in. How's your parking karma?
Bottomline: If you can find a place to park, this one's worth the trip.
If you have a canine pal you absolutely must make a visit to Maxwell Dog. Yes, it's on the pricey side, but the unique doggy items inside are worth it. They stock everything for the truly pampered pooch.
My mother is one of those women who carries a little toy dog around with her. If this sounds familiar, you should make a stop here for some doggy pearls or maybe a carrier that looks tres chic on any fashionista. Or maybe a fluffy dog bed that any human would be happy to have in the living room.
This stuff won't clash with your Eames furniture. It's really high end and worth it. The only con to this location is the parking. It's on Ventura Blvd... need I say more?
Bottomline: This doggy top shop is the cat's meow!
Wagville is a great doggy day care with holistic healthcare including therapies and massage. Every dog gets individual attention and you can tell the staff really does love dogs.
The facility is clean and full of the kind of things that dogs love. There is even an 8.000 sqare foot playground which is completely doggy safe!
There are no cages, instead dogs sleep overnight with the caretaker or on wagville fluffy beds. It's truly a home away from home for pups of all types.
Prices are very reasonable for this kind of pampering.
Bottomline: No one will love your dog like you do, but Wagville sure comes close.
Every bit of this place is chock full of itsy bitsy things for babies. Located in fashionable Larchmont Village, the clothes are trendy, funky and fun, as expected.
There is a great play area with couch and videos which keeps your kiddos busy while you sort through the wonderful selection of merch.
Fantastic selection of shoes from popular brands like Pitter Patter and Goody Goody are always well stocked. Baby necessities by Zutano are a great bab shower gift for anyone on your list.
Bottomline: Fashionable friends find favorites at Flicka!
The concept behind this store is truly unique. Since most households with kids eventually also acquire a family pet or two, the idea of combining kid store and pet shop is genius. This allows the busy Mom to shop for both in one place, fantastico!
This place is especially great for picking up a baby shower gift for a couple who already has a furry child. That way, you can include a gift for Fido and fend off any jealousies when so many packages arrive just for the new baby in the house.
They are also helpful when searching for that perfect baby outfit to match a doggy outfit for those too adorable Christmas cards.
Bottomline: Who doesn't love puppies and babies?
This place is great if you want a really impressive gift for a baby shower. Less is absolutely more because quality counts here. This is a high end boutique specializing in European baby brands for the upscale consumer.
If you own the Preppy Handbook, you will just love the selection of preppy baby and kids clothing in this shop.
Bear in mind when shopping for friends that European (and especially French brands like Absorba) run very small. Buy extra large sizes for American babies!
Bottomline: Tres chic baby clothes for parents who want only the best bringing up baby.
