Beaded Designs is an excellent place to find any beading items you're looking for. They ahve a huge selection of everything from seed Beads to Swarovski Crystals and the prices are great for any beaders budget, and lower than some of the bigger chain stores. They have a huge selection of jewelry findings and clasps that will finish off any project with class and style.
If you do any kind fo scrap bookings, you probably use Stamps. Stampassion has the largest selection of stamps and stamping acessories in the area. They carry every theme and design you can think of. The prices are premium, but the quality is excellent so I don't mind spending a bit more here. The people always greet you with a smile and have tips and tricks of the trade to pass along.
My girlfriend makes handmade jewelry, so we make frequent trips to 2 Bead or Not 2 Bead. It's located on Western Ave in Albany which si a main road, so it's very easy to find. They alwayas have an AMAZINGLY huge selection of beads and jewelry findings. The prices are incredibly low, especially on the sale items. They are always running specials, so there are pleanty of ways to stretch your shopping dollars. The sales people are friendly and know the layout of the store. They will help you find exactly what you need for every project, which leaves more time for browsing the bargaIn bin areas.
The Canajoharie Youth Center is an excellent place for your teens to spend time after school or on weekends. They require the kids to deposit $.50 when they enter as an incentive to behave and keep the equipment from being abused. When the kids leave they pick up their $.50 if everything si back where it belongs and they ahve bahved. The councelors are great and keep a close watch on the activities.
The Canajoharie Library and Art Glarrey is a nice place to spend a relaxing afternoon. They have a large selection of art to browse and it's a great learning experience for the kids. They have a huge book area, and even have a small used book sales area. There are computers available for those that need them and usually there's no wait.
Whitney's sells a selection of mostly candy and papers. While the prices of the candy are ok, a little bit lower than other stores, they realyl don't have that much of a selection. The people are always very freindly and know most of the patrons by name since this is a small town. There is always a parking space out front so you don't have to travel far in bad weather.
Lewies is a small store that has a very limited selection of grocery items. It's ok for that quick essentials stop, but not very good if you are doing your large weekly/monthly shopping. The prices are a bit high, and I wasn't excited over the meat selection they had either. They do run specials now and then that help with the prices, but then you're limited to the specials items, and they run otu fo those quickly.
We stopped here on our way to the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame. The novelty of the building is what drew us in,. it's sahped like a really big 3 story Tepee. They have a nice selection of novelty gifts and the people were very freindly, but the prices were OUCH. Good for maybe that someone that has everything that you know.
We stopped in Glimmerglass pools this fall to pick up materials to start planning our inground pool project for next spring. They had several pamphlets and price lists for us to take home. However, the salesman did not stand up and come to greet us so we were left standing around staring at the walls for quite a while before anyone bothered to notice us. They didn't make us feel like our business was wanted or needed.
Nothing helps a home like new colors. The color shop has a huge selection of paints, wall papers and borders to choose from to get that perfect look you have in mind. They also carry anything else you might need to do an excellent paint job by yourself. The prices are good and the sales staff was very helpful and patient with us. They will also order special colors/sizes of paint if they don't ahve them in stock.
