This establishment is along side the bluffs in Onalaska, WI. Beautiful scenery abound behind the Golf Bowl.
This is exactly what it says it is. There is golfing, miniture golf of course and bowling. The miniture golf is outside and I believe a "regular" golf course too!
This is great family fun, either together or separately! I can see how it would be easy to send one adult out to golf on the regular course and the rest of the family bowl or do minature golf.
The prices are not bad either. Considering this area is depressed as far as the wage scale...this amusement would fall in line as far as pricing with other entertainment options.
I would recommend Coulee Golf Bowl.
Kish & Sons has been around the area forever it seems. They are well established. I wonder if this is why they charge so much money. Actually they ARE in the ballpark for this area, but way out in center field as far as pricing.
Kish & Sons had to reschedule twice before they sent a young man out to do some basic rewiring and add a few outlets. The young man argued with me about taking the wiring for an overhead kitchen light that was never used, and turn this into a wal outlet. He said it couldn't be done....but it WAS done very easily.
Also...he put in an outlet in my bedroom. On the other side of the bedroom wall is the living room. So all he had to do was extend this through the wall. He did it fine EXCEPT everytime that I plug or unplug something, the auto breaker trips. Once the MAIN breaker tripped. I did call Kish back and they WERE going to send somebody out to repair this..... BUT they wanted to charge me! Hey, we paid just under 1,000 for all the rewiring and it's not right to charge to fix one of their mess ups.
Besides this... all was done fine and the young man cleaned up his mess before he left. The project took two days to complete.
Aitkin Lanes is located in town and there is plenty of parking spaces. Leagues are available to adults and kids of ALL ages. There is also open bowl time.
Aitkin Lanes has about 10 lanes which is good because we have a small town so that's all we really need. There are plenty of balls and shoes if you don't own your own equipment.
There is a concession stand with fast food, pop, chips, etc. and there is beer available from a waitress to adults only.
There are also pool tables and some arcade games.
Even on league days/nights we don't have to wait for a lane. It's a lot of fun to hang out with friends or go with your family.
Moonlight bowling is a blast. That's where they shut off all the lights and only the back of the lanes are lit up and there are disco lights spinning around. It's SO fun.
PROS: Tons of fun
When our Explorer was vandalized, State Farm recommended Dahl Auto Body among 2-3 others. I was able to bring the vehicle in the same day for a consultation. They had to order a part which took a few days.
They did get the vehicle in when they said they would.... but I didn't have car rental insurance. I could rent one from then for $10 day. HOWEVER if my estimate had been higher, the rental would have been free. I thought this was a terrible practice.
The estimate to fix the vehicle was 5 days --- they had it done in 4 days. However I had to bring it back once because they forgot to reconnect the power mirror.
Overall, I was satisfied.
There used to be a chain hair cutton salon at this location. When the new owner(s) took it over they gave this place an entirely new look and feel.
This is geared towards EVERYBODY.....then entire family can go here. The prices are reasonable for a GOOD style. Whether it's a snip and clip or a complete style, I will go here.
The location is in a strip mall on the corner of La Crosse Street and Lang/West/George (yeah, it has 3 different names!!!). A busy Kwik Trip gas station is on the corner but there is a ton of parking. Just be careful in the parking lot as folks zip in and out from many angles.
Wettstein's does have electronics, tv's, refrigators, freezers, washers and dryers, video and dvd rentals -- but they're just too upper crusty for me.
They're theme is "Wettstein's Wow" and I don't think it fits.
Yes the floor area is nice, plenty of do-dads and things I'd like to own or upgrade to (large screen t.v.) but their prices are out of this world.
They cater to the rich with in home installation of audio but for the little or average person -- well they/we can wait.
In a small city of about 55 thousand people, there are a LOT of college people as there is are two colleges and a tech school/college. You'd think they'd want to catch some of their business also. They won't unless Mommy and Daddy are paying.
Wettstein's location is barely in downtown La Crosse but parking is awful as it is all over this city.
Pretty items..... prices too high for this area.
PROS: Lots of nice things
CONS: Prices WAY too high
Portillo's started as a hot dog stand I believe on North Avenue. It's grown to several stores.
This (fast) food is to DIE for. The store in Elmhurst, Illinois is decorated well and the atmosphere is great, upbeat and is always crowded. Yup, the food is THAT good.
They have everything from Vienna hot dogs that my husband craves to my all time favorite of a Beef & Cheddar on a Criss. w/ Hot and Sweet Peppers. Their beef sandwiches, no matter what form they come in, are always PERFECT. I do NOT think I've ever had a bad meal at Portillo's.
Also, they freeze the beef/juice and sell it. It's recommended to call ahead. Save any left over juice to use as stock in a soup or stew - you'll be glad you did. I don't know what they do to this food -- but it's addicting.
Portillo's does have a drive through that is often backed up for a dang big distance. Don't let that deter you....they have somebody that comes out and takes the orders so you can zip up and pay and get your food.
The Shanghai Market is located on Como Avenue just off of Snelling as you head towards Roseville.
It's a small store, crowded and it has an odor to it.
They sell SOME standard American pantry/staple items and a lot of Asian veggies and foods. They also sell things like cigarettes and international phone cards.
I could never understand why, but on Sundays, the Shanghai Market was FULL of people. These were mainly people getting fresh veggies.
This is a family owned business and often Grandma could be seen in the back. One or two of the counter staff could speak English fairly well. They are a plesant bunch of people and worked VERY hard.
Ok.... I'm NOT a bowler...but my husband and step daughter got me to go wing the ball down the alley. It was FUN. By the third game I broke 100.
My husband saw this and decided to get me a custom ball made for me as a surprise. He enlisted the help of two gentlemen who TRICKED me into getting my fingers fitted for a ball of my own. They all were very sly.
We went back a few weeks later, presumable to bowl. I was choosing a ball and my husband and the man called me over. They presented me with a ball with the weight I liked and it had my name on it. It was beautiful!
This shows the caring of the staff there.....and they had as much fun as my husband did in surprising me. They are out to please the customer 100%!
A few years ago they moved from a small downstairs/below the ground, sort of dark space to a modern facility. What fun.
I would absolutely go there over and over if we lived in this area again.
PROS: Cust. Orientated
Property Management Concepts was easy as pie for us. Althought the agent was over 1/2 hour late to show us the appointment, AND had scheduled others to see the duplex at the same time as us (this was very uncomfortable) all worked out ok.
We filled out our application and they did their checking asap. They phoned us and asked me to come in to fill out the "official and legal" paperwork. They set it up for that same day as we were in a hurry. The deal was signed, sealed and delivered in a very short time.
Now I do know the owner of the duplex lived in Florida and he did come up to WI and for some reason he said he "fired" the company. He tried to make nasty remarks about this company and how it loses files but I don't know if this is true or not. Considering this came from a man who lived in one of his rent houses and was taking video's of the college girls in the bathroom (yes he was convicted in March 2005) so I can't believe him. All I know is that I was treated w/ respect and had no problems with Property Management Concepts.
